A common theme in westerns, the guy with the fastest gun always having to "defend the title" as it were, not being able to live a peaceful life. This flick is that, but with its own twists. I wasn't wowed, but I did enjoy the film a lot. It was the best performance I've yet seen from Ford, with a fine supporting cast, told a solid character story, and had a good ending. I'd put this film up against any of the more famous, say, Anthony Mann westerns from the same period.

An old school western well played, set and lensed. "Not that hot" is selling it short. There's nothing more to say, it is what it is.

A film built around the myth of the quick draw gunfights, a thing created by Hollywood westerns. It does have an interesting plotline with its protagonist haunted by violence well played by Ford.
