Douglas Fairbanks Jr. was in a adventurous mood in 1947. First Sinbad the Sailor (1947), then this, The Exile (1947). While the action portions were thrilling, it did lack something in the story department to make the rest feel as vibrant. Still a lot of fun to be had, he is a Fairbanks, you know. He knows how to charm his way through even the lousiest of scripts, one he wrote himself.
