Comes across as intended to be a joke, but made by someone with a terrible sense of humour.

Costa claims that some film makers have done their best work in short form. Suffice to say, he isn't one of them, and his observation doesn't apply to the example he often uses to illustrate his point either (i.e. Straub-Huillet). They all require a much bigger canvas to explore their intellectual/aesthetic ideas. Fervent admirers might take interest in Costa's juxtaposition of a minimalist long take and old Hollywood style music, but the result is rather tedious and not worth investigating.
