The Easiest Way

The saccharine nature of the Clark Gable Christmas scene loses me from this movie.

Funny seeing Clark Gable in such a minor role, and this story isn't too unlike the theme of his own movie later that year in Possessed (1931). But no doubt Possessed is a lot better. But Constance Bennett does a fine job as the shy girl who goes for the easy way and becomes Adolphe Menjou 'kept-lady' while most of her family disowns her. Robert Montgomery doesn't get to do too much here except be a glimmer of happiness for Bennett. Overall a good movie, but lacked any major drama to highten it.
