The Dry, kurak bir Avustralya kasabasında, geçmişle iç içe geçen, barındırdığı gizemleri, şüpheleri ve tansiyonu izleyici üzerinde son ana kadar koruyan, seyir zevki yüksek bir suç draması. Yalın anlatımı, duru işlenişiyle yılın kaçırılmaması gereken filmlerinden biri.

Bana carries the movie, but it helps that the dual central mysteries are both engaging.

A fairly middling mystery-thriller given added weight from understated work by Bana, and the distinct flavour of a very Australian sense of provincialism in the locale; Connolly’s evocation of a dusty backwater is scarily convincing and you almost feel the townspeople may well have skeletons in their closet more compelling than the central mystery! But it all ultimately feels too pat and contrived to be truly memorable. Good bits for Blake and (especially) Spence in support.

Felt shallow; no, what's the right word---yes, "totally dry." All that imposed melancholia on the top...

This has a slight feel of 'The Tourist' about it as its an Australian mystery film but it's definitely not as good as that show. I didn't feel too much emotional concern for or about the characters, other than the main character perhaps because he's clearly not well regarded when he returns home, which seems a little unfair but for the most part, the characters didn't interest me much. It's somewhat tense and it's sort of ok but not a film I'd actively recommend, no.

Pretty regular out-back crime drama, nothing new to add, lacking much tension or conflict. Acting from the younger cast was spotty and had even blander dialogue than from the older cast.

It's almost a little too low-key at times, but for the most part the central mystery is engaging. That's really enough for the genre, if I don't leave it going "that it?" then it's a success. Bana has a presence but it's not overly memorable. That's likely more of a consequence of the script, atmosphere and/or tone than him as a performer. The Dry is the type of flick I'll recommend to people who really dig the genre but it doesn't surpass that, like the truly great films do.

Good performance by the lead, and decent over all. However, the motivation of the killer is ridiculous.

Great atmosphere, and Eric Bana is great, but it too often goes in different directions.
