Just more drivel Sandler has concocted to hang with his friends in nice vacation spots. Spade and Sandler obviously have fun and are friends, but they fail to realize or just don't care that no one else is in on their joke. Its a shame because I think Sandler when being slightly serious is actually somewhat charming. I wish he would try to do something of substance, but at this point it may be too late.

Surprisingly not terrible. Sandler turns down the Sandler-ness for this, which means that it's never actively annoying. It's not particularly hilarious, but there are funny moments here and there. The plot is inane, but comedies shouldn't really be judged by plot anyway.

Compared to a lot of the other garbage that Adam Sandler and Happy Madison have put out, this stinks a lot less. The Do-Over, while still sporting the stereotypes of a shitty Sandler flick, has a bit more heart and benefits from less eccentric characters. The comedy is still childish, and the plot is plain stupid, but it's more enjoyable than Pixels and the Ridiculous 6 combined.

Actually incredibly funny. Starts as a depressing film but turns into a comedy with a couple of boring exposition moments. The rest was golden though

It's very trashy, the writing is often poor, the story is nonsensical, but there's something about this that I really liked. Pretty damn funny and relatable. Lots of crude jokes.

I have to admit, it took me a while to recognise that was Sean Astin! Speaking of which, this movie's high point (which in the history of cinema is really a very low point) is the 'Encino Man' reference.

At the very least, it demonstrates that Sandler is best taken in small doses. The shorter than usual running time works in its favour, and this mistaken identity action comedy has something resembling a plot, a few real laughs and passable violence. Throw in Patton, who is a surprisingly good sport, and it is an amiable time killer for fans of Sandler's middle aged spread.

buried in this sex romp and excessive bad language is a wonderful touching film about friendship. Sandler has a lot of friends.

Not sure why the critics are so hard on Sandler. Try making a funny comedy. This one was much better than I expected. Laughed out loud throughout. It is raunchy though, similar to "That's My Boy".

Surprisingly good and funny. I was just as astonished as you are. The plot itself is a bit stupid and has a lot of holes but it's still engaging and even clever at times

I would probably rank it a little above other recent horrible Sandler films like Jack & Jill and The Ridiculous 6 simply on account of it kinda takes a stab at actually having a plot, with events and turns and twists and reveals and everything - but that's not to give it too much credit. It's a pretty predictable plot and the movie is only ever marginally funny at best. I also find David Spade one of the least watchable supposed "movie stars" of my lifetime.

Passable. The humor is lazy, even by Adam Sandler standards.

Dopey bro-comedy has a few chuckles scattered here and there (thanks mostly to Spade), though Sandler proves himself to be more endearing than usual by not being afraid of losing his audience's love, though as always there is the stomach churning plot twist that is supposed to endear him to us, while tinkling music plays on the soundtrack. Still it is passably entertaining; charges of misogyny might stick firmer if there was any sign of intelligence in the screenplay on any level!

It's hard to deny that Spade and Sandler don't have great chemistry, plus it's nice to see Sandler get to be the crazy one instead of the straight foil (which he has been for most of his new movies). It's still not great tho and only funny sporadically.

Does Adam Sandler exclusively watch his own movies and only with his friends (while threatening to Rob Schneider them if they disagree)?? I can't fathom how something so criminally unfunny, poorly plotted, unamusingly juvenile could be made by someone who watches movies or receives any honest feedback ever....and all this from a caveman who liked That's My Boy. And yet i still cant turn away from the sandler shitshow..is that ridiculous 6 on the horizon? Im a self loathing monster.....

Normally I would rate this a bit lower but because of how much people shit on Sandler, I had incredibly low expectations so it was easy to come out not pissed. That said, this has an awful soundtrack and some cringy moments but what modern day action comedy doesn't. I mean, at least this one surprises you albeit with weird shit. Overall, not awful but not good either. This is a movie you put on before falling asleep.

Honestly painful to watch. There is no story, no jokes, no joy. Every single character is unlikeable for either being an asshole or a doormat. I felt pain watching this and feel this has to be one of the worst movies I've ever watched let alone worst Adam Sandler movie (I don't know which one is more an accomplishment).

An Adam Sandler film with people sticking keys and flash drives in their buttholes and a plot involving two stupid fellows that change their identities and end up finding the cure for cancer. At least it can be watched in a smal screen, now that's an improvement in Sandler's career.

A toned-down Sandler makes The Do-Over far less annoying than his other recent efforts, though perhaps simultaneously making it less memorable. There's still enough slapstick to delight Sandler fans, but plot-wise it's a fairly straightforward action-comedy built around ghosting. Acting-wise, Sandler takes a step towards portraying depth; Spade is actually decent; Patton is really stiff despite a decent character, and Hahn is fun as usual. Overall, it's mediocre, but surprisingly so.

I think this film was an analogy for David Spade's career! The trailer looked promising and it started off well enough with a toned down Sandler and a laugh out loud moment from left field, but then quickly derailed into cliched territory. We've all seen this premise before and this film brings nothing new to the table.
