Yet another comedy that didn't make me laugh

I guess this was supposed to be a comedy but I didn't find myself laughing much at all. A series of small details adds up to infedelity and murder for poor Tobey Maguire. I would say that Ray Liotta and Laura Linney were my favorites in this film. Liotta was a good stand up guy and Laura Linney was crazier than fill in the blank. The start of the movie provides you with small details and then eventually unfolds all of them to reveal what happens at the end, it sounds neat but doesn't work.

Tobey Macguire'dan erotik bir kara komedi. Orta sınıf bir baba, evine çimlerle bahçe yapıyor. Taki rakunlar istila edene kadar. Çarpık ilişkiler, oyunlar, komşu külü, yardımlaşmalar, tuhaflıklar derken filmin sonundaki kırılma noktası ile şaşırıyoruz. Hayat da bazen normal olmak lazım. Filmdeki sonlara doğru hareketli olsa da sıkıcılığı da yabana atmamalı. Tobey sıranı bil. Önce Laura sonra Elizabeth.

This is one of these films that proves that humour is a highly subjective thing, the comedy is dark and quirky and I laughed my ass off in more than one spot. The rest of the story is interesting and the cast do a fine job in their roles.

It is put together ever so well, on all levels, yet I was disapponted. Perhaps I'm missing something.

Quirky, dark and refreshing...it's all in The Details. The cast works well together, with Linney and Liotta's crazy playing well against Banks and Maguire's tapioca. Unfortunately, I wanted to like this film a lot more than I actually did. This is partly due to the film having two too distinct halves in terms of tone and pacing. That said, the ending monologue is spot on in its contemplative, droll narrative; giving a taste of what the film should have been.

I won't bother about details, but the details mostly annoyed me. *Preview*: #14#, story, cast.

A black comedy that is unusual in that it strays into serious drama in examining the implications of its farcical set up. Maguire is perfectly cast as the outwardly harmless and bemused doctor beset with all of human frailty, and the support cast is all good, but the movie suffers from a strangely inconsistent tone. Bonus points however for the terrific climactic scene.

It works well as a drama but all attempts at comedy fail spectacularly. Laura Linney's character is particularly grating. That said all the other actors did a great job. Tobey Maguire and Elizabeth Banks have great chemistry. Plus the supporting cast of Ray Liotta, Kerry Washington, and Dennis Haysbert all hit their marks.

A dark comedy that is both new and almost enjoyable? That is basically the least I could hope for this day and age!

A really great dark comedy that's manages to keep a good pace all the way through. Decent acting, and it was nice not to absolutely hate Laura Linney.

It stars Toby McGuire (miscast, got no business playing opposite anybody as hot as Elizabeth Banks, but still it sort of works) as a doctor who gets himself in what appears to be a minus five sit-com. The absurdity had me wanting to get up and leave 4 or 5 times, but just when I thought all was beyond hope, Toby uses the Prius to commit the murder of an errant raccoon, and confesses everything including complicity in a murder to his wife. It is an absolutely outstanding scene, and lifted me up
