I like Lupino Lane. He was a big talent at physical comedy, which made him a popular silent slapstick artists. However, The Deputy Drummer (1935) was among the series of cheap quota quickies that ended his movie career, and it's not a very good comedy. Neither based on the material quality or anything production wise. Close to a flop for this Lupino, even is he is likable in this.
