The Cry of the Owl

Paddy falls in with the woman he's stalking and gets stalked back all while an elaborate plot is being staged to gaslight him. I have not read the Highsmith inspiration but I have enough knowledge of her other works to know this was probably bungled. There is an owl that cries out, but it sounds nothing like when doves cry.

A watchable but ridiculous film full of one-note characters acting completely irrationally in the world's most contrived plot. And the ostensible protagonist is a total creep.

Three days in the life of two semi-retarded boring and a little creepy hicks. That's my honest opinion on the film.

Dull attempt at a psychological thriller. The plot requires several enormous leaps of logic and the characters do completely unrealistic things with what seems like no motivation or reason behind their actions. Considine wanders through the film looking permanently befuddled, and Stiles' acting is as wooden as the forest in her back garden. Disappointing.
