A fun little animation with beautiful characters and comical animation and excellent voice work. The story was full of action, humor, and was enjoyable up to the ending when it turned ferocious animals become docile house pets and took a few too many unnecessary liberties. Contrary to the good severe prehistoric premise, the finale was pathetic. Overall, most of it is interesting and fun. Shame on whoever pushed for that rotten saccharin-sweet ending.

The first act was an exercise in patience, but after that it became mildly entertaining with a couple parts that gave me a chuckle. My biggest complaint is at one point the score sounded like it was going to drop the Jurassic Park score but then went into generic sad music score and then did this like 5 times. And within the generic sad music score there was a bit that sounded like some of the music from Medal of Honor: Frontline. Seriously movie, get some original music.

Flintstones-esque story of a family of cavemen trying to survive the end of the ice age. A predictable story and slightly generic characters are offset by beautiful animation and a captivating world reminiscent of the one in Avatar. It also had me laughing a lot with its abundance of slapstick humour and cute creatures. Overall, The Croods is of the same ilk as other Dreamworks animated films which are solid efforts that aren't quite true classics (Kung Fu Panda, Puss-in-Boots).

It starts pretty slow and the story is rather weak. But it excels in design and animation part. Some of the chimeric animals were mad cute or cool such as flying piranhas or that cat/owl thing. The sotry picks up the pace a little towards the end; but honestly it did not engage my daughter much.

Watch it with your kids, they will learn something new (maybe) and will enjoy it. Watch it as an adult and you won't be entertained much. Surely, there were nice things: a handsome guy and his cute sloth, a colourful new world and some touching scenes, but the movie is rather stereotypical. Its main message is repeated over and over, maybe even too much. 3D effects are not so stunning, either. In other words, watch it and talk about some matters with your kids afterwards or don't waste your time.

Has the infuriating pace of the Madagascar films, not really giving you time to care about anything that's going on before the characters are falling from the next cliff or being chased by the next monster. Probably great for a kid with a poor attention span but it's a tiring exercise for anyone else. The voice acting is fine, the animation is fine, the plot is kind of stupid and done before. Really, you could do a lot better, but if your kid drags you to the cinema you could also do worse.

Fairly heavy handed and predictable with its set up of themes and characters (old school dad with rules vs. new school Guy with ideas) but the journey is a fun one full of wacky family banter and cheeky prehistoric humour (“What's a pet?” “An animal you don't eat” “Ha! We call those children!”) in a wild and colourful world, wonderfully designed, and its climax and ending hit you like a rock right in the feels: the hug (rhymes with Grug), the sacrifice, the trumpet tribute, the “I love you too”.

Definitely better than I expected. I thought that it would be a sort of updated Flintstones for the modern era, and it is a bit like that - as in taking modern inventions and finding their counterparts in the prehistorical times, but it also has a surprising sense of adventure once the story progresses. It also looks very good with top-notch animation and beautiful vistas. The relationship between the father and the daughter was also quite moving. Good enough to make me want to watch the sequel.

The Croods was incredibly funny! it was very heartfelt, sincere & presents very moralistic view about goals & braveness. Belt, the Sloth was without a doubt a funny character to see and he's in fact a great wingman to Eep & Guy. oh let me tell you, she swims like a sea turtle and its so funny for no reason and she's just a great character overall. Grug? Man, he really had a character development along with his daughter eep, together they realized true meaning of love & life.

Sweet natured fable overcomes its basic familiarity and superficiality by its infectious good nature, and eclectic voice cast providing unexpected pair-ups (Leachman and Cage trading passive aggressive barbs was something I never thought I wanted to see!) One wonders what greater philosophical weight might have been present in Cleese's original incarnation, but as a simple kids movie, this delivers in spades, until a somewhat overly protracted finale.

I didn't like these bone-headed, ugly characters one bit at first, but they certainly grew on me with time! Their caveman world is depicted, with great creativity, as a dangerous but exciting place. I felt the characters really developed and bonded well during their forced hero's journey. And the slightly sadistic cartoon humour harkened back to the kind of TV I grew up on. Didn't notice the voice talent too much. Would be happy to watch again, which I don't even say about Disney & Pixar...

Yeni birisiyle tanışınca olaylar başlar. Animasyonun başlangıç konusu, kurgusu çok iyi. Fakat filmin ana teması fikir, fikir tıkanıklığına başvurdu. Sonlara doğru akıl almaz saçmalıklara ve hatalara vurdu. Film göndermeleri ve Captan Mağara Adamı esprisi. Filmin sonunda, güneşin arkasında yaşam vadisi. Aşkından dağları delen adam

Some computer animated movies are made by people who think that the medium has something to prove, like they have to bury deep messages and life lessons and make universally appealing movies. As computer animation has aged, we've seen more and more popcorn flicks being made, "The Croods" is one, it's decent, and if you're eight, it's probably great, but that's it.

I had low expectations of this film and never saw it in the cinema. Caught it on television and was quite surprised by it. Fairly standard kids film in the vein of Ice Age, but manages to entertain and engage fairly well. The visuals are well crafted and some of the animations are beyond impressive. The performances also shine well, to the extent I didn't identify any of the actors by voice and was quite shocked to learn who was starring in it. Far funnier than I would've imagined.

I avoided this worried I wouldn't be able to turn my brain down enough, that I'd be constantly thinking "why do they understand this word/concept but not that one?" But as the world they live in is totally re-imagined the whole cave men speaking modern English didn't bug me. The animals and plants are rather charming, unfortunately the characters are rather cookie cutter, making this a pleasant film destined to be forgotten, as the animation won't stay cutting edge for long.

oh i loved this! and was thoroughly surprised to! aside from a host of well-developed, REAL characters, a concrete story-structure and a script that's just the right amount of "modern-funny", this film was ABOUT SOMETHING. it spoke volumes about love, family and life and was so very relevant to our modern times and concerns. this is the definition of a smart, strong, family film.

There are ways to achieve meaningful sentiment without ramming down an audience's throats. I wish The Croods (and other films aimed at very young people) would employ one or two of them. It would make films like this much more palatable to the entire family and not just to the very young (and the very young-at-brain).

We've all seen it before. The storyline with the young character wanting to break out and experience the world has been done so many times. The characters were mostly just the archetypes we've already seen in those films too. It had a few funny moments, but most of the humour fell flat. The voice acting was fine, I guess, except for Nicolas Cage, who felt miscast. The animation was good, but not any better than other recent animated films. Overall, it's pretty forgettable, but harmless.

A beautifully animated comedy of Historic proportions. Well, this movie won't make history but it is a really fun time. The visuals were quite good, I was especially impressed by Cage's facial hair. The little animal named Belt was probably my favorite character. The film is basically a road trip/disaster film so plot-wise it won't blow you away. It seems to lack that spark of originality that makes films like this memorable, but it comes close with a mostly entertaining cast of characters and the more annoying ones are kept in the background. The story may be predictable but it's well told and entertaining, and the gags and jokes are reasonably funny, with nary a pop reference or poop joke in sight, which is refreshing.

The Croods is a very enjoyable film, animated or not. It looks good, it's got a lot of charm and heart, and it is very funny. While it would have benefited from a greater supporting cast -- or their excision from the picture -- it still manages to be one of the first truly enjoyable movies of the year, and the funniest one that I've seen in 2013. If you have children, or remember loving Dave the Barbarian during its short run, you should definitely give The Croods a watch.
