Production values are as poor as in any b-movie of the 50's, but it is amazing how many commentaries on society and humanity were stuffed into it. I am sure it will sound weird, but the last shot makes this film The 400 Blows of a monster genre.

These sequels are a big surprise. I think I like both better than the original, esp this one. Although the impact-of-"nurture" theme isn't subtle, it makes this a very unique monster movie & the ending is wonderfully tragic. The movie acknowledges the past but then goes an entirely new route w/ the creature changed into sympathetic pseudo child & makes sure the human characters are compelling on their own w/ a potentially adulterous wife, a guy who wants her & increasingly insecure husband.

This is one hell of a fun and fast-paced creature outing with Snowden playing the life of the party and Morrow displaying the crazy-eyes at every opportunity.

The Creature went mental. The series took a turn for the macabre, this time around in more of a Frankenstein-esque fashion. The film deviates a lot from the tone of the previous two parts of the series, and it's all for the good. The newly presented moral dilemmas with the Creature's changing psyche are a breath of fresh air, and overall cemented the whole series as one of the more enjoyable creature/Universal flicks of the era.

Ambitious and tender. Some people just can't look past production values.

More like a domestic drama where there’s a fishman in the mix than a horror film - and when it is a horror film briefly it’s far more like a Frankenstein movie than the first two Creature movies, where he rampages around a house and attacks his tormentors only. The idea of him getting lungs and going on land is ok, execution feels very low budget and B movie, but oh well. Part where chick is changing into her bathing suit behind a semi-sheer curtain was mildly edgy for 1956.

BlurayRip RARBG.

Now, I've finished the trilogy. Parts 2 and 3 were comparably just OK, but I love the original. One of my top 5 monster movies.

Jack Arnold would have done it better.

Why would third degree burns and poking a hole in the neck of a fish make a new species? Why was there even debate between the scientist on that point? Pretty terrible script which focuses too much on soap opera drama and lacks any atmosphere. The cast pretty much saves this with an oddly earnest performance. Makes a great double feature with This Island Earth though.
