The first half isn't all that terrible, with a bunch of people stranded in a weird Swiss resort. Then they insist on introducing the actual monster...

This is one of those films that builds oodles of atmosphere, only to shoot itself in the foot with laughable FX at the very end. If you can forgive this, however, it's a slick and well acted blend of horror and sci-fi.

The exposition is actually fairly good. However, when the "monster" finally shows up the film's production values become apparent. It's also about this time we realize the two female leads, the closest we get to three-dimensional characters, are in fact only psychic plot devices. Was probably considered cheesy even in 1958.

Very silly and unbelievably cheesy. Good to watch with a couple if friends, but watching it alone isn't too pleasant.

Known in the US as THE CRAWLING EYE, this has silly monsters, Forrest Tucker looking uncomfortable, and the lovely Janet Munro giving it all more than it's worth.

Janet Munro is very pretty, and for 1958 this would have been considered rather gruesome, and the monster fairly eerie when you finally see it, but I'd be surprised if that held true even a decade later. Didn't even make the best fodder when it featured on MST3K.

I had fun with this one and like the setting, in the Alps.

Slow and cheesy. In serious need of a better audio track.

The hills are alive with the sound of Crawling Eyes. I love this movie, and I've seen it many times. I enjoy how they don't reveal the monsters until the final act. I like the cast. And I enjoy the Swiss mountains setting.

You know how hard it is to make an eyeball threatening. IT IS VERY HARD. It's an eyeball, if even a puff of air hits mine I'm done for.

Yeah, this is pretty painful to watch. A faster pace and a nude scene with Janet Munro would have helped considerably.

I don't like B movies, but I like Mystery Science Theater. Explain.

Should have been called The Crawling Pace! Like a lot of old no-budget sci-fi, the acting is poor, the science is bunk, and it takes most of the film before you even get to see the monster. It's garbage, alright.

Well acted and full of suspense; better special FX would've made this a classic.

Decent camp value, although it gets quite boring, having very little action until the end. Watch it on Mystery Science Theater.

Really really bad. Some of the special effects are good for a laugh though. MST3K entry.

Nostalgia. My uncle made me watch this, and it's boring but good fun at times.

This honestly isn't very good, but it's fairly creative, the acting is OK. The tentacled eyeball-brain-things are hilarious. Needed more Janet Munro, though. I'll happily keep this movie in my DVD collection.
