The vessel with the dragon... err, the chalice with pestle... the flagon from the palace?

This was wonderful! It was a really fun musical/comedy and I enjoyed it a lot. The lead actor, Danny Kaye, was fantastic. I loved the rapid-fire dialogue, and genuinely funny jokes. There were also a bunch of great songs. The colours were nice, and the sets were cool too. It's silly, and I can see contemporary audiences not liking it, but I thought it was fantastic.

It's all a bit corny but the combination of silly music, silly jokes and rousing actions just works.

Timeless comedy classic. Danny Kaye was very funny, and the "Chalice from the Palace/Flagon with the Dragon" bit gets me every time.

Still one of the funniest movies ever made, 50+ years after it came out.

"The Court Jester" was a childhood favorite of mine, yet revisiting it didn't quite recapture that old magic. The vibrancy remains, but the humor that once resonated now misses the mark for me. The melodies I once enjoyed now strike a grating note, coming across as frivolous. While I understand its classic status in the eyes of some, it no longer holds the same place in my heart.

It's a very funny historical comedy. It's a good film, but it's worth watching for Danny Kaye's performance alone.

It's a slapsticky romp full of witty dialogue and brilliant wordplay; classic Danny Kaye stuff.

Kaye, Lansbury, Rathbone and Johns do everything they can to make this film as good as it could be - and it is fun at times - but even so it's too fanciful for my liking. In some parts it's ridiculous to the point of distraction. Having said that, I appreciate the lighthearted nature of this as entertainment. A point of interest; both Lansbury and Johns are still alive (96 and 97 years old!). If you want to see Kaye at his best then watch something like 'Up In Arms'.

First time I have seen it in many years, and it sparkled with a lot less wit than I expected.

I have very fond memories of this from when I was a child and I'm beyond thrilled to find that it holds up on a rewatch, with the exception of the knighting scene which just goes on for far to long. Also, this is straight-up advocating for an alternative kind of masculinity in a way that Hollywood would never dare to replicate today. Fucking A!

The film is pure concentrated entertainment featuring songs, slapstick and rapid fire verbal comedy. Kaye is the center of it all and he is a joy to watch.

A nebbishy carnival performer finds himself in the middle of court intrigues while working on behalf of the Black Fox, a rebel against the usurping king. As a star vehicle, it tends to over-indulge its lead at the expense of the story, and the rest of the cast are given comparatively little to do (especially Angela Lansbury). But it has some very funny moments - especially the accelerated knighthood sequence -clever songs, and a lavish production to compensate.

Sweethearted and very entertaining when they just let Danny Kaye do his thing, otherwise a little dull sometimes.

I film I loved as a child and this is my first viewing since and was full of Nostalgia for me. No doubt about it that Danny Kaye was a great showman and he was very entertaining throughout. Clever witty songs, along with some great comical scenes such as the Vessel with the Pestle. A feel good film.

Though I have fond childhood memories of HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSON, this is the only Danny Kaye film that truly catches his genius in a bottle. Hysterical!

Some cheap laughs, especially at the end; irritating sometimes - but enjoyable for the most part. Had they sustained the initial pace this could have been a classic. The acting of the jester and everything else falls (sometimes dramatically) in quality towards the end. Kids might enjoy the cheap laughs though.
