Everyone thinks Lionel Barrymore was a traitor during the Civil War working with the South, but he was really a allay. The problem is that only Abraham Lincoln knew he was on their side and Lionel was sworn to secrecy. A secret he keeps with him for the rest of his life, thus being deemed a outcast in his home town. That's the whole premise of this somewhat effective, but in reality slow drama. It all relies on Barrymore to carry the story and he does. It rides mainly on the little quiet things.
