The Clairvoyant

All rather arch...with plenty of Dramatic Close-Ups (seemingly a hangover from the Transitional Period).

Solid, if fairly unexciting, entertainment. And it's a bit diffuse...it's got a little bit of everything: backstage drama, marital misunderstanding, a fall down the stairs, disaster, and a climactic court scene. Rains is excellent--this might not have worked at all without him.

Must be great being clairvoyant! A babe magnet of great magnitude for Claude Rains! Fay Wray or Jane Baxter? Fay Wray or Jane Baxter? Fay Wray or Jane Baxter.....? Impossible to choose.... The gift becomes a real headache, doesn't it?

An excellent, complex thriller marred only by a somewhat bland epilogue.
