The Business

One of the many unspoken advantages of being American is a blissful ignorance of Troy Duffy, oops, I mean Nick Love. I kid. We go from the bottom to the top to a much lower bottom and it isn't an unpleasant ride. I have thoughts about Danny Dyer but none that weren't already thought about Colin Hanks.

It wants to be a "GoodFellas", but it isn't.

It tries. But still fails. Still a good watch.

The Business is without a doubt my favourite Nick Love film. Following his debut film 'The Football Factory', Nick Love has matured as a Director and this is much more rounded and enjoyable. The overall direction, script and performances are all great. Dyer, Hassan, Bell & Chapman are all decent. What I love most about this film though is it's style and 80's vibe. The Fila, Ellesse & Sergio clothing is a throw back and with the addition of a brilliant soundtrack, The Business is a lot of fun.

It's like a British GTA Vice City set in Spain. Sounds like a surefire winner, right? Too bad it's all very predictable and adds nothing new to the 'rise and fall of a gangster' concept. Could've benefited from being more sleazy and/or mean. But still, you know... it's like a British GTA Vice City set in Spain!

Despite the same old gangster rise and fall story it bounces along nicely.

Dayum, the soundtrack!

Nicely shot movie set in the 1980's. Cracking soundtrack too.
