A millionaire sued a billionaire and I guess it's a social justice drama now? Still a very watchable film for grown-ups.

A few harmful needledrops and ancient courtroom tropes that test the abilities to cringe, but it's rarely boring and pretty catchy acting. Overacter pur sang Jamie Foxx can handle this type of material well, and i always love Bill Camp, always.

Snappy, clever dialogue, good performances by Foxx, Jones and Smollett. A solid emotional core; sure, it's about a trial, but the real core is the friendship between Foxx and Jones. I'm not a massive legal drama guy but I was invested in the case, and thought it did a good job exploring its themes.

Terribly written David Goliath story with zero court room realism that gets sappy and rambles

I imagine the accuracy of the courtroom scenes is lacking, but this is a standout example of the genre, with good performances, character arcs, heart, humor, and twists.

Thoroughly enjoyable! Overcomes some preposterous individual moments and genuinely bad lawyering from both sides of the story’s legal battle with a superb top-to-bottom cast. Foxx is tremendously good, TLJ is effortlessly compelling as always, and Mamoudou Athie reaffirms his semi-unsung status as one of the most likable actors of his generation. Some of the crowd-pleasing mechanisms are quite heavy-handed, but they still largely worked for me!

There is zero originality in this one, but it is fun, thanks to Foxx. Nothing much to write home about but does promise a good time.

Formulaic but it works because of a strong cast and never taking itself too seriously. Worth of watch as this genre isn't too popular right now so there is not much to pick from.

a few good men meets a buddy movie

The worst trappings of courtroom dramas are on display here, with the lawyers not preparing their witnesses then leading them, never appropriately objecting to each other's proposterously irrelevant race-baiting loaded questions, and a judge who knows no other word than 'overruled'. Professional script consultants exist for a purpose.

Nice movie-of-the-week timepass. Come for the dramedy, stay for the scenery chewing :)
