The comedy doesn't really work, does it....? But that was one of the more interesting sex scenes of the year!

This felt like there was too much early on that threw me off and I never could really like it. There are moments and it does get better as it goes along though. I don't know much of Melissa Rauch's work, but I was also very impressed with her turn here as well (compared to her character in Big Bang).

I'm not a fan of gross-out humor, but I kinda admire the effort of bringing more females into the vastly male-dominated domain of crass anti-heroes. Rauch gives a very entertaining take on her role as a has-been olympic athlete. If the more farcical elements had been toned down and that GODAWFUL saccharine ending had been modded to suit the movie's baseline more, this could have been one of the better female-led comedies of the decade.

It's fine I guess. The humor is very hit and miss and the ending is a sell-out, made worse by the fact that if we see someone be horrible a whole movie everything shouldn't work out for them with just the bare minimum of soul searching. You can allude to the main character being on the right track to things working out in the future, but not immediately. It does have one of the more interesting sex scenes I've seen since Team America.

Melissa Rauch is charming enough to carry a film, especially with a character that plays against type. The premise of someone who peaked early but remains a huge deal in her small town is fun. The rest of the film falls so far short. Gary Cole was miscast as a dad who lets his daughter gets away with that much. Haley Lu Richardson doesn't get much to work with, nor does Thomas Middleditch whose character is more bland than his AT&T persona. Fav scene: initially sabotaging Richardson's training.

This was a pretty funny movie although at times I felt they pushed things too far or lingered on scenes or jokes too long. Also and maybe my biggest gripe is the fact that no one acted in a realistic manner to what was going on.

This film has a good strong performance by Melissa Rauch. However the script has several weak moments. The lackluster script brings the film down. Overall this film is disappointing.

So if I lived in the same town as that Hope chick what'd probably happen is I'd sneak up behind her at that deli she always hangs out at and beat her upside the head with a claw hammer. What a detestable character. On the bright side, though, there's a rap song over the end credits that Rauch does in character as Hope so that's something.

Shades of "Young Adult"s misanthropic/narcissistic humor.

It jumps the sha--, er, vaulting horse, almost immediately by rubbing moviegoers' faces in vulgar nastiness and meanspirited cynicism about young Olympic stars who get trapped in their 15 minutes of fame. That's the only joke this movie can muster, the only point it bothers to make. There's not a single decent tuck or tumble, and certainly not a stuck landing anywhere to be found on this cinematic mat. (pluggedin.com)
