Christopher Lee returns as Sax Rohmer's insidious Asian villain Fu Manchu for the second of his five vehicles. This time Fu Manchu and his army of henchmen are kidnapping the daughters of prominent scientists and taking them to his remote island headquarters. Instead of asking for ransom, Fu demands that the fathers help him to build a death ray, which he intends to use to take over the world. But Fu's archenemy, Nayland Smith of Scotland Yard, is determined not to let that happen... (imdb)

Presumably older nostalgic fans kept this franchise going for 5 movies in the 60's bc once again my most recurring thought is This is a lamer version of 60's James Bond in every way (the stunts, the gadgets, the girls, the scenery). The hero's also a stuffy Sherlock Holmes knock off who doesn't even figure things out in an impressive way. It's probably very true to the earlier pulps since I'm still not even sure what decade we're in. The negative stereotypes also seem more plentiful here.

Always seems to just toy with its audience and never goes over the edge. Plots sometimes make little sense (how can the BBC over power a ray beam? Couldn't they blow up countries then too?) but it's all in good sadistic fun.

Burt Kwouk gets killed again doing the same thing in a later Fu Manchu film. Also, no brides in this film.
