There is zero Dracula so Peter Cushing goes hog wild on a knock off while bosoms heave.

Cushing is glorious, and the rest of the film glows with life and fun. How do Hammer manage to make their leads so beautiful and handsome in such an otherwise grim dark world? Lovely stuff.

Pretty decent dracula sequel, thanks in part to Cushing being an enjoyable Van Helsing.

Not a bad Dracula movie considering Dracula isn't even in it. Cushing is as watchable as always and Hammer's trademark style is satisfyingly present; bright lighting, colorful turn of the century costumes, and paint-red blood. Terence Fisher and Hammer go together like white and rice. True, I could have used some Christopher Lee Dracula action, but this is about as good as a Hammer Dracula movie without him could possibly be. Loved the windmill = crucifix ending.

Really sells the idea of vampirism-as-public-health-concern common throughout the Hammer Dracula movies. The film lacks a villain as strong as the previous film's Dracula, but it makes up for it in quantity, the good Baron is just a tad indiscriminate in his appetite giving Peter Cushing LOTS to do. There's also all that creepy psychosexual stuff going on, adding a nice exploitative icing. It's also nicer to look at than the first film, the lighting, color and photography set the mood very well.

The first documented case of a giant shadow of a cross killing a vampire? But once again Hammer knows how to pick its vampire victims and vixens. I'll take a bite...

If you like Hammer horror films, give this one a look. Peter Cushing is great as usual.

That main vampire character is a really, really poor character, very unconvincing as a leading super villain. Placed in contrast with the badass hero, the weakness of the main bad-guy is even more fiercly emphasized.
Even if the plot is overall quite poor and the "horror" of it lacks some vitamins, it makes me want to see more of Peter Cushing. And maybe more of the hot vampiresse babes too.

A sumptuous production rich in color and detail, this has top-flight acting from a super cast and boldly touches on elements of incest, lesbianism, homosexuality, and other theretofore unexplored aspects of the vampire condition.

Not nearly as great as its predecessor, and this is certainly in part because of the formulaic treatment it gets. I suppose if you're watching a Hammer flick this should be anticipated. Characteristically vibrant and thick with atmosphere, and perhaps more impressive cinematography than most B genre films of the time, but in this case the action takes place all in the third act, and the first two are woefully lackadaisical.

Terrible, mainly because you're wondering where Christopher Lee went, and who the hell this guy is.

This is probably the best HAMMER Productions horror films I've seen. Good story, look and feel for a vampire movie.

Em honra do aniversário de Peter Cushing hoje. A superioridade desses primeiros filmes da fase horror da Hammer é indelével, os últimos dez minutos deste filme é puro frenesi. Box Drácula - The Ultimate Hammer Collection

Bizarrely considered 1 of Hammer's best. Although it starts off well enough by subverting expectations & presenting characters who seem like threats to the film's French damsel but shifting away from them, the script is a plothole-filled mess, beginning with the first potential villain who's simply never seen again. And the vampire's demise is clever, but having Van Helsing fail to warn the damsel to avoid him or even show up for the awakening of a "bride" he knows will awake is just bad writing

There are some great makeup effects, fun little twists, a bit of humor and a more active Dr Van Helsing. Oddly enough this just might be my favorite of the Hammer Studio's Dracula/Van Helsing films. The color and atmosphere were top notch.

As a young boy my introduction to both Hammer and vampires, remember asking my dad questions all through it. These fight scenes and this castle are still what spring to mind still when I think of either. Vampirism here more like sex addiction or a regular std than twisted romance or parasitism. Feel like I'm over-rating because it's not very good, but also under-rating thanks to nostalgia and because Cushing was really entertaining.

Peter Cushing is good here, but David Peel is a poor replacement for Christopher Lee and the movie lacks the style and atmosphere of Horror of Dracula. Still its entertaining enough, I guess.

Pretty well made, but lacks menace and the "brides" don't really do anything. I'll just stick with the Fearless Vampire Killers for this sort of flick.
