The first screen adaptation of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, with the story told in a mare 12 minutes (which was the "feature length" time for a 1909 movie). Primitive production, of course, but it manages to communicate the important parts of the story very nicely. Well done by David Aylott and the Williamson Kinematograph Company. Aylott actually directed short films all through the silent era totaling around 350 productions.
