The Book of Mary

I think it's harder to talk about this film because I saw it directly before Hail Mary and didn't realize it was a separate film. Taken together, Hail Mary seems an unfortunate rejoinder to this film. By itself, the young girl's performance as Mary is still somewhat remarkable, but I wouldn't call the film anything better than lively.

A preamble to Godard's Hail Mary that does little for me on its own or as a way to put Godard's feature into perspective. Doubt I'll remember much of it in a couple of weeks, especially when compared to the imagery of Hail Mary. Not sure why Godard insists that these films always screen together, to be honest.
