Prolific Italian filmmaker Duccio Tessari (La Morte Risale a Ieri Sera) returned to the giallo field with this first-rate detective thriller which begins with a French co-ed (Carole Andre) repeatedly stabbed in a park during a thunderstorm. The suspicion falls on sportscaster Alessandro Marchi (Giancarlo Sbargia). (Robert Firsching on AMG)

Some clunky elements but there's also something original about it, with a heavy focus on forensic technique and courtroom disputation and yet also a strange atmosphere of pervasive perversion, and the use of music is notable. One cannot help but wonder if the caffeinated Badalamenti scenes in MULHOLLAND DRIVE owe something to this movie.

This is worth seeing if you're prepared to be patient; it unfolds slowly, and it's sometimes quite difficult to remain engaged with the characters and the core of the plot. It is quite slickly made, though, and nicely soundtracked, and the ending just about makes it worthwhile. A rather gentle entry in the giallo canon that might no be for everyone.

It differs from the rest by focusing on the investigation and trial, turning much of the first half in a decent courtroom procedural. Meanwhile the movie show the lives of various characters. In the second half the lack of a clear protagonist, starts to hurt the movie. Many scenes feel disconnected from the murder mystery, making it hard to investment in the characters. But it's saved by a very good ending, which makes senses emotional.

A slight disappointment after all the praise. Bologne locations are refreshing and it's beautifully shot. Like Tessari's earlier "Death Occurred..", it spends too much time with procedural and legal side of things; pace is definitely slower than usual. It wouldn't be a problem if characters were more interesting, but they remain too distant. Ending leaves some questions unanswered which felt out of place considering the documentary style. I should give this a re-watch with lowered expectations.

Slower moving and less lurid than most Gialli. Requires a bit of patience but this is a good choice if you feel like something in that vein which leans toward the police procedural.

Soa superior ao usual giallo por várias razões, mas a questão principal é que não tem aqueles twistes rocambolescos e sim um sólido e condizente twist que realmente fecha com maestria tudo que foi costurado durante o filme. DVD Versátil Giallo Volume 5
