The Blackout

High body-count militarised sci-fi which takes itself a little too seriously, some inventive imagery (definitely watch the original Russian version if you're going to have a go at this one).

A whole lot to like if you are a Sci-Fi fan. Even more so if you like alien invasions. The story plays like a military war movie but with a somewhat satisfying twist at the end. However, the ending of the story was left badly dangling.

You can't compare this film with top-rated Hollywood action adventure sci-fi films from 2000 onward. in this film, there is a potential to be better and stronger than it is in its current state. the film is a bit lengthy at 2 hour run, and i would recommend this film if you are a general sci-fi action adventure fans, and also for someone who is curious and interested to know about other film productions outside of Hollywood.

Too long? Yes. Are there any plot holes? Yes. Does it seem to lose focus at times, focusing more on war scenes? Yes. But it is well produced and has an ending that will make you think about our humanity, which is increasingly lost.
