The Big Racket

Enzo Castellari dips his toes into the murky waters of Poliziotteschi and comes up trumps with this energetic thriller about a tough cop taking on a violent gang running a protection racket. The first half is by the numbers stuff until the cop is abruptly fired and forms his own vigilante gang, leading to an incredibly staged shootout in a factory. Great action and music, a jaw-clenching lead performance from Fabio Testi, and Castellari limits his usual abuse of slow motion to a bare minimum.

Great Italian crime flick. Loved the music!

if you have seen the dubbed in English version of this film then I'm sure you'll agree with me that it is most certainly 'diddly'. I'm glad that none of the previous reviewers of this film are in my TCI's as after reading their delusions I'm afraid to report that they are most certainly insane.

Excellent Italian crime saga from Enzo G. Castellari. Testi makes for a compelling protagonist.

As good as crime film can get.

Maybe a bit cheesy by today's standards, but way ahead of its time in the gritty, cop thriller sub-genre. Dark, bloody w/ a great third act.
