Ok, so this obviously isn't a great movie, but I think people are way too harsh to it. The action isn't GREAT, the humor isn't GREAT, but there's something about it that is just a lot of fun. It's a nice little action comedy that obviously doesn't take itself seriously, and while I technically know it's not a great movie, it really just does the trick for me. Really enjoyable, if you ask me.

One of the classic cases where the trailer overhypes the movie, was chasing this on HBO 20 years ago only to be left disappointed and swearing to never believe what is in those magic 2 minutes.

What can I say, I love this film! I can see the many flaws (acting, dialogue, plot etc) but this film just wants me to have fun and it's impossible for me not to respond to it's juvenile charms. Some films are so bad they become entertainingly good. That's not the case here. Big Hit just wants to go OTT in EVERY aspect, and in doing so doesn't take itself seriously, so it's hard to critique it in such fashion. From that mindset it's easier to enjoy this violent action comedy as a guilty pleasure

Several hitmen, including Mel Smiley (MARK WAHLBERG), Cisco (LOU DIAMOND PHILIPS), Crunch (BOKEEM WOODBINE), Vince (ANTONIO SABATO, JR.) and Gump (ROBIN DUNNE) are the best at what they do. Working for their boss, Paris (AVERY BOOKS), they bump off their prescribed targets with a mixture of bravado, humor, and efficiency, and then go home to their "normal" suburban lives.

Mark Wahlberg stars in this action-packed raunchy comedy about a very-nice hitman who has to juggle two women using him for his money all while being back stabbed by his own friends within the company.
Wahlberg did a great job as Melvin Smiley but the two who really stole the spotlight wee Lou Diamond Phillips and Avery Brooks.
Brooks was amazing as the boss with his scary deep voice and Phillips was just plain funny. China Chow was also very cute in this movie as the love interest of Smiley.

Call me crazy, but no one on the production staff thought casting an actress named CHINA Chow as a Japanese schoolgirl even a little bit awkward?

It was great! Good action, comical romance, and a lot of comedy. This film reminded me of Mark Whalberg from "Other Guys".

Outrageously funny film. This is like Jim Carey / Die Hard. And if that doesn't sound great to you, you don't deserve to enjoy this movie!

It wasn't an enjoyable watch. That's about all I have to say. It had over-the-top action scenes that didn't make much sense and weren't enjoyable, characters that didn't matter, and a boring plot. You'll like it if you enjoy these kinds of action films, I didn't enjoy it much at all. It doesn't have much to say, and I have even less.

Can't deny this is enertaining, but the pacing is terrible! The point is most likely for everything to have as quickly as it does, like a 'thrill ride', but I think that this takes away from some parts of the film. Besides a lot of the CGI effects are atrocious and laughable, which does take away from a lot of the high action scenes. It's still a fun watch, but it's not as good as I remembered it being. I guess I grew out of it.

I'm not sure what this film was supposed to be. You had some over the top action scenes and truly wretched dialog with cuts of Mark Wahlberg saying some sentimental nonsense to China Chow. Everything about the film pretty much sucked. Oh and Lou Diamond Phillips busts some hilariously bad masturbation jokes.

It tried to be both American action and Hong Kong action movie, and while it tried to do the latter, it was pretty good, but the former and all it's bad jokes and stilted 'broseph' humour was pretty bad.

The action's not great, and the humor tends to go broad and obvious, but there are also some really good jokes in this. How uniformly mean almost all the characters are to Smiley and the nuances of a lot of the actors' portrayals are what really make this film. Elliot Gould, Bokeem Woodbine, and Lou Diamond Phillips have a lot of fun.

Style & stupidity painted in broad strokes make everything about this unappealing which is okay during the violence or occasional humor. The budding romance is somewhat warm & fetishistic.

Wahlberg can't act. Tries to act like a spoof and make fun of itself, but comes up way short. An erotic scene with a turkey? Yikes.
