The Big Bird Cage

Another really fun Jack Hill women in prison flick, starring Pam Grier as a revolutionary who intentionally gets arrested in order to engineer a riot/escape from within the local forced labor camp. Not nearly as sleazy as (the extremely similar) The Big Doll House, but it's got great production values and plenty of cute girls having the usual showers and catfights...plus Sid Haig and Vic Diaz playing a pair of flamboyant homosexuals. Nice.

Great campy fun.

Very good movie for 1972. Boobperb!

This is a weird but original film. This movie has an ensemble cast, some of the acting is bad and some of the performances are entertaining. There are some original and interesting scenes. Overall I would recommend this movie.

This campy B-movie is superior to all the conceited formulaic bland Hollywood cinema of 2023. At least - and not a small feat, as it turns out - it's original. Original story, original sets, original characters, original vibe. It's a B-movie, still, and acting varies greatly, some jokes are good, others are bad, most are instantly forgettable. But it's got a certain charm and energy to it. Fun and passes the time surprisingly well - the first half at least.

It's got a lot of charm with the focus on the female cast with comic relief coming from Django and Rocco. It might be an exploitation movie but I think that in it's kind of straightforward way of its time, it's got loads of charm and it's just a lot of fun to watch. It's campy, there's boobage happening, women get to be badasses and sometimes they also wrestle in mud. The movie comes with less sleaze than you'd expect from a movie like this. Plus it's got Pam Grier, what more do I need to say!

Pretty slow and not that great, but it has boobs?

An entertaining film from the Roger Corman production line but it does feel rough around the edges in a negative way, with too many main characters to follow and dragging by the end significantly. The highlight has to be the prison wardens who manage to be charming as well as villains.
