Possibly the only movie you'll see where success in the music industry causing one to be alienated from one's roots is a *good* thing.

The performances in this one are either flat or overacted, and the story goes exactly where you think.

I killed that fat barkeep

It plays out like a morality play of the 30's or 40's and is badly dated by 1960. The Sinatra cloned songs are fairly good and fit the story of a fledgling amateur Rat Pack well. That it would target Sintra who at that time was the establishment shows this was a last gasp of a generation already a number of trends behind. Everything about this film is a decade behind and even JD films of the 50's had long passed it by. [MST3k were as mystified as the rest of us but "mooned" it good, real good.]

Well, just where were the beatniks? Nothing too likable about this.
