The Battle of Shaker Heights

The good section from a teenager's life

A well acted teen film that unfortunately can't seem to shake it's made for TV roots. Similar to many other teen angst films of the 80s & 90s.

I like Amy Smart, and I seem to recall liking Shia Laboeuf in this as well. Other than that it was probably fairly uneventful since i can't remember it.

simple, quirky, charming

Nothing startling or new, but entertaining.

Shia LeBeouf shows some early potential, that's about all there is here.

If you miss those 80s comedies by John Hughes or the aforementioned John Cusack, you might give The Battle of Shaker Heights a shot for a reasonably close modern-day attempt at covering the same stylistic ground.
