The Bar

I really wanted to give this movie higher. It has so many amazing scenes and very solid acting. There were a few things that were completely unbelievable though especially how guns and phones in this movie seem to be the most indestructible objects to ever object.

Typical Mist-like contained survival horror that brings the worst of each layer of society -- a hobo (what a terrific performance), a lady looking for love, an advertiser, an ex-cop etc -- in order to comment our own everyday sense of paranoia living in big cities. First 45min are really strong in its crazy depiction of despair, but the film lazily relies on lackluster tropes (some nicely timed comedy, for example, and soft gore) to deliver a resolution.

Classic Alex de la Iglesia film. It has his classic tropes but you can't get enough. Mainstream at the end, though. Hated Helena's character.

Good premise, unfortunately it drags too much at times.

Characters are not natural. It's obvious that they act as what they are told. For instance you don't sacrifice yourself after attempting murder for survival.

A macabre and twisted exercise in class distinctions and "us vs them" mentality, even in the smallest of locations and with the same set of objectives for the characters. Filthy, gripping and extremely well-done.

The end is what made me go from 70 to 69, meaning, "good but". I just look at the cast and noticed that Jaime Ordóñez is Israel, AMAZING!

This is movie is made in a classic over the top De la Iglesia style where the plot can and does go everywhere without contemplation about the usual common places. It is entertaining if you like the eclectic style, but the plot isn't as engaging as other De la Iglesia's films

I can deal with blood and gore and exploding brains. I can't deal with people swimming in the sewer.

Hilarious and entertaining schlock black comedy, brought to us by the Spanish master of such films. De la Iglesia is in his element here, and totally delivers.
