So terrible it's kinda hilarious. The scenes where William Bendix is supposed to be a "teenage" Babe Ruth will have you on the floor.

Babe Ruth died shortly after seeing this biopic of himself. That tells you all you need to know about how bad it was. False narratives aside, The Babe Ruth Story (1948) is a very goofy adaptation of his life. That dog in hospital sequence was super cringe-worthy, and they sort of messed-up all his big moment taking Hollywood liberties. Can be amusing if you don't take it serious and just see it as William Bendix playing any other corny baseballer than "Babe".

BABE RUTH IS A SAINT. BABE RUTH CAN DO NO WRONG. BABE RUTH IS A PERFECT MAN. BABE RUTH IS CHRIST HIMSELF. DOESN'T EVERYONE JUST LOVE BABE RUTH. GO BABE GO!

Sentimental biopic without much value. Totally misses the crazy, self-indulgent side of the Bambino.
