On the verge of being impressively boring. It is essentially a pseudo-gothic horror variation on Les Yeux sans Visage, except instead of being a masterpiece, it sucks cock.

Sadly overappreciated (in some quarters) but undeniably prolific auteur Franco fashions a solid fright flick in this early effort. A Jack the Ripper-ized variation on Georges Franju's superior _Eyes Without a Face_. Genuinely atmospheric and well-paced without sacrificing any sleaziness, this should appeal even to non-Francophiles in search of vintage celluloid scares.
