Great concept, great actors, but pretty poor effort from all involved. If I wanted to see Johnny Depp with dead eyes I'd just watch a Barry Pepper movie.

The plodding pace of this movie is hard to stomach at points but the ill-ease which I felt the whole time that I watched this film was worth the slow moments. The twist was unique and they layered another twist on to the end of the film. There is an uneasiness to this whole film that I found engrossing. The sex scene that lead to a pregnancy is close enough to rape that it doesn't sit well. It isn't your standard SF movie and that is what I loved most about it. I hated the pacing though.

There really is a strange amature, staged feel to this movie. The whole thing is very boring, with a total lack of atmosphere and any sort of suspense or intrigue. Ravich direction is spectacuarly bland, with his lighting effects in particular laughable. Depp and Theron phone in their performances in what is a movie that should be avoided all costs.

Whoever thinks Johnny Depp has never been in a bad movie really needs to watch this. As a suspense/thriller movie the viewer shouldn't be bored. However at least half the time I was watching this I wanted to go to sleep. Bad film.

Watched this probably 15 years or so ago and am having a real tough time remembering it, maybe was inebriated, sleepy, or maybe it's just not memorable. You would think with two premiere actors as leads it would be memorable, especially in a cross genre I really enjoy. I think there may be some poor direction or script issues as others have mentioned. May attempt a re-watch some day.

The Astronaut's Wife isn't a particularly good film. It didn't keep me entertained, it didn't make a lot of sense (I kept asking "Why are they acting this way?"), and the twist was poorly executed. The dialogue made me cringe, even coming from the likes of Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron, and I had to wonder why I was supposed to care about anything that was going on. There was no answer for me, and I don't think this is a film that many people are going to enjoy.

Would have been a great movie except for the last moment of the ending which was completely unsubstantiated.

Johnny Depp give a frighteningly bad performance, and Charlize Theron should have been blacklisted for even reading the script.

I love how weird-normal this is, as though Ravich is trying to cover up how certifiable he is.

Plenty of creepy stuff eventually, even if most of it is achieved with soundtrack & heavy handed camera work. Slow, & impossible to avoid the scourge of being compared with Rosemary's Baby, which it can't touch. I find myself staring at the girl's lips wondering about her lipstick through almost the whole movie, not a good sign.

It starts out perfectly with beautiful shots and tinges of Lovecraftian foreboding. Fortunately, the brilliant Ravich decided to bait the viewer with that and switch to an Ed Wood script filmed with a multi-million dollar budget. It's Rosemary's Baby combined with the Invasion of the Body Snatchers in a cringeworthy trainwreck of a script. An alien jellyfish possesses an astronaut & impregnates his wife with alien twins to build a computerized fighter jet that turns off electronic devices.
