Anne Parkson feels neglected by her lawyer-husband Ted, so she falls in love with night-club owner Tony Arnello, a shady character who is a client of her husband's. This being a MGM picture and MGM known to strive for General Audience ratings and avoid the dreaded Adult Audience tag, any affair that takes place is barely implied. I found The Arnelo Affair (1947) difficult to get into. There are qualities, it just didn't amount to something super attractive for me. The actors does have a good stab at bringing the story to life, it was just that Arch Oboler wasn't the best merited director for the job.

This Arch Obelor entertainment shows the director's radio origins, but it benefits from good noirish photography, Eve Arden (always a plus), a better than usual performance from Hodiak (romantic and intense as a cheap hood in love), and the delicate beauty of Frances Gifford just a year before her debilitating accident. Not much, but not a bad way to pass the time.
