Rated high for nostalgia, like many others here. Most 80s kids will consider this part of their childhood. It's got cute animals, nice scenery and a heart-warming story. Narration is a bit wacky, but amusing. Of course, there's no computer animation to make the animals look like they're actually speaking as humans would - but like Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, its alot of fun and very charming despite (or maybe because of) the need of a little imagination on the part of the viewer.

I could rate this higher if it wasn't for all the evidence of animal abuse in the making

Having seen it multiple times recently on Sprout with my toddler, I can say that it's not as great as I remembered when I was a kid. Still, the movie is cute, Kinda like a Homeward Bound type of story except without Hollywood's corrupting influence.

(Watched Chatran version) There's pretty clear cut cases where this movie flat out committed animal abuse but I do think that for as horrid as that is I do think it gives its visuals a lot more weight and authenticity. Using real animals in setpieces creates a fantastic sense of urgency and body language often missing from other films, even despite very obvious editing choices. On the other hand, I do think the plot has very dull stretches and pacing can be a slog so it's uhhh... not amazing?

Seen: 2. My wife has declared this a childhood favorite, so I have seen it a couple of times. Thankfully my kids have not wanted to see it again after being exposed to it.

Saw this as a kid [u.s. version, which I also re-watched just now], and it was perhaps the first movie I fell in love with -as a movie,- and certainly the first time I explicitly made a connection between movies and dreams. Its eerie, Japanese beauty still haunts my dreams, and I wait for the day when I will die and be set free.

A lovable little movie from my childhood. The Adventures of Milo and Otis follows a cat and dog who are best friends, but are separated. The movie follows them as they mature and the changes that come. It's a beautiful film.

This was the greatest thing in the world to me growing up. It literally (I don't care how cliche this sounds because it's true) taught me the value of friendship. I hate the fact that so many animals were hurt during the filming!

I love "Milo and Otis." It makes me...nostalgic. "Milo and Otis" is a good story about the friendship of children and how that friendship changes over time. It's great for kids, but also means a little more for adults. It's the perfect family film. A lovely soundtrack and beautiful cinematography spanning every season make this a gorgeous film to experience. If you have kids of your own, I suggest watching this.

My absolute favorite movie. Few stupid humans to mess it up, just a sweet tale of two friends on a dangerous journey.

Overly simplistic in its storytelling, but quite impressive with what they got these animals to do. A pug riding on the back of a turtle in the ocean? No wonder it took them six years to film this. You've got to give the filmmakers some credit for sheer commitment.

Saw this when I was a kid and for years after my mum would reference this as the most horridly boring kids movie she had to suffer, and eventually sleep, through. My recollection is slightly kinder, finding Moore's narration amusing enough, but how many times can you really enjoy seeing a cat get wet?

I never realized this was made in Japan when I was young. This is good, considering the amount of cats and dogs they probably went through in filming would scar children.

I thought it was great when I was a little kid. Then I found out that during production in one scene they broke a kitten actor's leg to make it appear unsteady on its feet. So, yeah, fuck this movie.

DVDRip no MakingOff.
