It's an enjoyable story with good acting. The several fistfights were a little over the top and silly.

The Adventures of Martin Eden (1942) feels a little long-winded. When it starts you hope for a disturbing ship story, but it turns into a somewhat dreary struggling writer dilemma instead. However the performance is classic Glenn For and his person is interesting enough to get one through those slow romantic portions.
