Ford "Mr. Rock n' Roll Detective" Fairlane is experiencing problems, and it's not with the opposite sex. One of them is that all the rock stars pay him with drum sticks, koala bears, food processors and bicycle shorts. (imdb)

Andrew Dice Clay is about as funny as chemical castration. That being said this movie is slightly funnier than his stand up, mostly due to everyone but him.

So bad that it's good. Oh, the awesomeness of the eighties.

Not Being "PC" is funny when done by anyone other than Andrew Dice Clay. Pair him with laugh factory foreman Gilbert Gottfried... Nobel Prize for scooby snacks, baby!

One of the most wretched, mean-spirited, unfunny movies I have ever paid to see. I was so glad to see Dice's movie career come to a sudden end as a result of this. So worthless that I want to give it a score lower than 0

If Cutthroat Island inspired Pirates of the Caribbean, then this inspired Zoolander. Say what you will about Harlin, his badness has at least inspired legions to remake his movies if only to make them better/watchable. But not before he's possibly crippled the careers of the screenwriters associated with him. >_> None of them ever seem to make another movie afterward... :(

Dice has always been a divisive figure, but he was perfectly cast as the anachronistic foul mouthed wise cracking detective Ford Fairlane, a role which deftly capitalises on his limited but very real strengths as a comic performer. It's undoubtedly a film of its time with its smoky photography and Sunset sleaze, and its dopey narrative falls apart in the final act, but Harlin's slick and stylish direction keeps the energy levels high, and there are some hilarious cameos.

As a comedy, THE ADVENTURES OF FORD FAIRLANE is a deflating experience that force-feeds us both of Andrew Dice Clay's unappealing personae: the try-hard macho pig and the shockingly dorky hambone. What's left are the death throes of '80s Sunset Strip culture and another lackluster attempt to update the seedy milieu of LA detective noir. And sadly buried under it all is Renny Harlin's adept work with the "action" side of this action comedy, which is far better than the film deserves.

Lauren Holly awesome cast, awesome performances, awesome explosions...why doesn't Renny Harlin do full-on comedy movies more often?

As far as Razzie Worst Picture winners go, FORD FAIRLANE isn't really so bad; yes, Andrew Dice Clay can get pretty damn annoying at times (other times, he's fine), and the story's a total mess, but there are some laughs to be found. There's some shockingly dark and morbid humor (including a sight gag with a koala that you won't soon forget) that works decently well, and a few fun supporting performances (especially Robert Englund). It's definitely uneven, and VERY dated, but...it's watchable.

Didn't see it when it came out, but the film now seems horribly dated. The misogyny, awful music, and fashion all add up to a devotion to 80s detritus. Feels and looks somewhat similar to Road House (not entirely a coincidence, same producers as that film), but not nearly as fun. Not to mention Andrew Dice Clay is an incorrigible ass.
