Eh. It's a decent enough piece of entertainment, but its examination of fate and its religious implications are rather hollow and one-note. It's far too brief to explore its themes in greater depth, and the ending feels rather abrupt, in addition to predictable. The romance between Damon and Blunt, despite being rather thin, is, however, reasonably effective, and provides the film with some tension. Those who dig the genre will probably enjoy this a bit.

Matt Damon loves Emily Blunt. "You can't love Emily Blunt!" say the guys in hats, then they chase Damon around awhile, and finally they're like "ah, the hell with it..." and the movie's over. Watchable for at least the first 40 minutes or so, and Damon and Blunt are appealing, but nothing's ever at stake and nothing ever really happens, either. Ultimately quite pointless, and pretty frigging silly, to boot.

I keep watching movies that start so promising yet can't end properly. This ending should've been dark and fucked up and instead it was like they tacked it on because some test group said it was cute. Really made no sense. They spend a lot of time explaining everything too, I like a little mystery. Still, it's worth seeing but it's ultimately a disappointment.

The chemistry between Damon and Blunt works great and she's becoming one of my personal favorites, but that is about it. Once again one of PKD's great novels is beeing raped by annoying Hollywood producers, but hey, what's new? I could have gone without the intended, but unfunny bureau guys from the fifties and the pathetic God references!

Damon and Blunt are a nice fit (perhaps because neither of them has Hollywood looks) and their chemistry could probably have amounted to a good film, if this had been a straight-up romance. Normally, I'm a sucker for sci-fi mumbo-jumbo, even if this is just as much about religion, but Nolfi insists on flaunting the ridiculousness of his script and by the end I just wished that it hadn't been part of the plan that I waste my time watching guys with magic hats run through magic doors. 'Jumper 2'?

A great blend of action and romance, something rarely seen in films today. Damon and Blunt have wonderful chemistry together, making their sudden romance much more believable. As always, Terence Stamp is a ton of fun to watch and is an excellent 'antagonist'. I wish the God aspect could have been a bit more ambiguous and the film does start to falter whenever it thinks it has something "very important" to say. Not a highpoint of cinema by any means, but it does make for a perfect date movie.

I found this moderately revolting. However, points for its cast (but I didn't at all buy Damon being in love with Blunt, so the film fails on a very fundamental level for me) and the fact that its characters actually talk like people. Could've been excellent if the concept hadn't been handled so horribly. The religion tie-in was borderline offensive and the message or dare I misuse the world "morals" certainly were. Wanted to like this so bad, I really did. Had real potential, such a shame.

I wish they had dug a little deeper into the whole methodology behind the bureau and some parts did challenge my suspension of disbelief: agents sharing a human appearance, using cellular phones when they possess telekinetic powers... Terence Stamp walks into frame after a while, after which the film becomes more involving and Damon and Blunt, whose interaction help the film attain an emotional boil, are quite likeable together. Despite its shortcomings, I still found it worth watching.

I've never read Philip K. Dick's "Adjustment Team". Given that, I can't help but feel that 'The Adjustment Bureau' wrote itself into a corner. The stakes are so high that any ending outside of a horribly tragic one would feel like a cop out. That's pretty much the case here, but the chemistry on the screen can make you overlook that entirely. The film makes you wish you knew these characters personally. They're so great to be around that even sloppy plotting can't wipe the smile from your face.

It's rare that I notice the costumes in a movie, but Emily "so unlikeable she makes Matt Damon charismatic" Blunt's are standout bad. Apparently the producers signed with the Goodwill store for product placement. As far as the movie goes...well, it doesn't go by fast enough, and by the end there are so many plot holes held together with spit and duct tape, it's obvious they had no idea where to take the pretty decent premise.

An interesting concept is largely flattened by numerous large dumps of blatant exposition, heavy-handed injections of theological themes (see the sappy wrap-up) and rushed ruminations on free will and the future that are anything but subtle. Still, real suspense can still be found in spite of the cheesiness (see the door-to-door climax) and the (thin) romance has its moments of charm (Damon and Blunt have good rapport) and beauty (see the touching kiss in the face of their enemies at the end).

An entertaining enough film. All the actors do an admirable job in this sci-fi thriller/romance. The story is unique, but the more that gets revealed to the audience the lamer it feels (water makes them not know whats going on, need to wear the hats). I have a feeling this movie would have been more memorable had it not had the happy ending, but it's hard to get Hollywood to take that risk. Regardless, it's still worth a watch.

Watchable and interesting for a while, but the Hollywoodised narrative gradually de-emphasises the paranoia in favour of ho-hum romance/theology. This problem is especially acute for the underwhelming and hokey conclusion, which is at least kept very brief, as though the producers were aware the ending was less than satisfactory but felt they had little alternative (or realised, in other words, that any free will they may have counted on in relation to ending the movie was largely illusory).

The Sci-fi angle just doesn't work. It founders on the brink of preposterity. What works fabulously though is the love story which lies beneath the sci-fi gimmick. That's the movie's selling point - the electrifying chemistry which Matt Damon and Emily Blunt bring to the screen. Their performance is what makes this film an enjoyable romance.

I'm predispositioned to at least be intrigued by films dealing with fate and free will, and this one's pretty enjoyable in spite of some silly elements like the Bureau guys needing their special hats to make use of various doors. But then again we're dealing with a fantastical plot about strange fellows manipulating people's lives according to a master plan. Don't go out of your way to see it.

Sheep in wolf's clothes, basically. It's a standard star-crossed lovers romantic story disguised as sci-fi thriller. The perfect date-movie in other words. The premise is great and the craftsmanship is solid but the movie never really rises above mediocrity. The result is an enjoyable popcorn flick that will have you think "Must read more Philip K. Dick short stories." Other highlights: a young Morgan Freeman in a supporting role and the showcasing of the incompetence of bureaucrats.

Emily Blunt and Matt Damon sizzle in the odd 'Adjustment Bureau,' an entertaining romance that probably would have been great without all the zany science-fiction piled on top of it. The story focuses on a bureau of adjusters (angels) working on behalf of a chairman (God) to keep people on their proper paths in life to maintain world order. I can dig the concept, but I wish the film would've went for bolder heights. Full of potential, and solidly entertaining, the film still needs adjusting.

It's not a recommendation from me but it's not awful. It's just really shallow... I don't know why people are saying it's deep at all. Any movie can throw out an idea and not explore it with any depth. This would be forgivable if I felt there was some great quality, like an interesting story. There isn't. It plods along, generally being decent, never being amazing. Damon and Blunt are good (they're the highlight though I wouldn't say they're dazzling the audience), but the movie just falls flat.

Sure, it's hard to find a woman when you know nothing more about her than her first name. It's comparatively trouble-free, however, to locate a superstar Senate nominee. But she never takes any enterprise to reconnect with the love of her life, nor does it ever dawn on anyone that she could. When Damon loses her number, she sulks for three years! When he's forced to forsake her in a hospital, she waits, brokenhearted, for 11 more months!!!

So if I keep meeting people I owe money, is that then fate or the adjustment bureau trying to get me to pay? Are they trying to tell me that it's according to the plan that I pay my bills? If that's the chairman's plan then fuck him! It's my life. My plan. It's... wait a minute... Emily Blunt bend time and space in this movie, restarted days in The Edge of Tomorrow and fought a time traveler in Looper. I could have walked out of this film and ended up happier. It did well critically, which means nothing I suppose. The major hook of this movie is revealed pretty early on. Because of what the hook is ultimately revealed to be, this film is full of plot holes, and easily explained away story problems. The whole concept doesn't even work. I surprised myself by enjoying this film. I wasn't familiar with the Philip K. Dick short story on which this film was based, but the film becomes much more interesting when you're aware of Dick's literary arc, and his wholesale rejection of reality later in life. That being said, the film is flawed. It tries to become an ultra-sappy love story, which I never entirely bought into. The melodramatic music was intolerable and distracting. But the movie isn't as bad as people say it is.

A solid film with a smart premise, although I wish that premise could have been revealed much later in the film. Its not that the plot loses tension, necessarily, its just that the length of time between when we start to understand what's truly going on in this world and the end of the film makes its message sound preachy and repetitive. Matt Damon's acting is excellent as always, and Terence Stamp and Emily Blunt are good as well.

Steals shamelessly from 'Fringe' (who probably stole from Dick to begin with - so there!), and is a strange mixture of magic hats and interactive notebooks (of the otherwise non-digital kind), put into a world of 'google' and 'The Daily Show'. Hardest to swallow is the quasi-religious simplification of fate and choice. But it is a love story, and even though I don't take to those, the chemistry between Damon and Blunt make them the best couple since 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'.

Works far better as a romance, than as a thriller or competent sci-fi. Damon and Blunt are both perfectly watchable with a good chemistry and they really prop up this movie. The Adjustment Bureau as characters and as an organisation feel far too underdeveloped, and it really is to the films detriment. As simple entertainment it works absolutely fine, but I spent most of this movie thinking "that could have been done better" and wishing it had more depth. "Inception meets Bourne" it ain't!

Interesting and enjoyable, but mainly meaningless, something surprising thinking in the main idea used. Fortunately, is not just a movie about a man running, what trailers suggest, but sadly that time spend telling us a story is mostly focused in a love story that could be more emotive, and not that much in a freedom/fate plot, reduced to some sentences and simple thoughts. It looks basically as an unfinished romance movie and an unfinished religious/conspiracy movie.

The Adjustment Bureau never takes itself too seriously even if the characters do. The fact you believe the attraction between Damon and Blunt keeps the dramatic tension intact while a bunch of other lunacy and misdirection is allowed to take place. It's a ridiculous, heavy-handed premise that relies considerably on the effortless charm and chemistry between Damon and Blunt.

Excellent (short-ish) film about the meaning of fate, free-will, truth, and choice.

A decent romance with a sci-fi angle. The plot won't shake you but I'd be hard-pressed to pinpoint any flaws. Strong leads with good chemistry. Matt Damon is solid as usual and Emily Blunt is, as usual, friggin' awesome :)

pretty good, a little off in some places which makes it kinda hard to follow, but in the end it is actually a genuinely good movie.

The Adjustment Bureau is a great suspense movie. The twists and turns kept me interested from start to finish. At the beginning of the movie I suspected that the adjustment bureau was just some government agency that was influencing elections, but the whole story was flipped on it's head when the truth was revealed. An interesting movie! Difficult to figure out all the "rules" and how things work. It gets better with successive viewings. Understated special effects that actually seem pretty cool.

This is a film that asks hard questions, but then goes out of its way to give regurgitated rom-com styled answers.
