Almost none of the jokes land, everyone just sitting there uncomfortable as it should be with the Addams. Nothing unites a sold out crowd like the finger snap in the Addams Family theme. It’s kinda wild that the more outrageous film came out thirty years ago, I guess they’re scared that having Gomez constantly pang for Morticia , Tish that’s french arm kissing nonsense will turn kids into sex pests. Now you must excuse me as I have some hot candle wax to pour on my groin.

I think everyone's complaints about this film come down to the fact that it's not as horny as the 90's version.

A few extra points for about 3 laughs. Otherwise this cartoon was very poorly stylized and was sadly quite underwhelming.

This incarnation of The Addams Family is a somewhat neutered by both its inability to successfully land a joke and its lacklustre animation. Obviously aimed at younger children, with a stated-out-loud moral stance that's essentially "we shouldn't judge [people] just because they're different". This alone is fine, but the lack of characters or a plot that is truly different, renders the message and film a bit impotent.

I'm not that acquainted with the franchise to have any opinion on how any of the characters were portrayed in this iteration. It's a passable parable on how two different worlds meet, clash and by the end, find harmony. A faint tip of the hat to family expectations and teenage growing pains. Good themes. What bothers me the most is that the characters are over stylized and I did not enjoy the designs at all.

I guess you have to be a kid to enjoy this. I couldn't stay awake.

Wow this was almost painfully underwhelming. I didn't even know you could screw up the Addams Family this badly.

Yeah, we get it, Trumpism sucks. I wish this had more day-to-day heart, not just different gags stitched together. At least the music is enjoyable. Fav scene: the reveal that they're moving to New Jersey. I will never tire of tongue-in-cheek NJ disses.

I watched this film without a huge knowledge in the original series or movies that came out years ago. I knew some names, I knew the theme song, and that's it. This wasn't exactly the right film to introduce me to the family, and that probably has to do with the fact that it's a kid's movie and certain things were censored. As a film on its own, it's got its moments, but I didn't love it. It did make me interested to go back and watch the original stuff, though!

I enjoyed it for what it was: mindless popcorn entertainment with a "you don't have to fit in message" that keeps true too its source material.

The animation style was offputting & it leads me to realize that nearly all the charm of this series is predicated on the excellent live action actors.

Not awful, if offering nothing new to the characters and fairly uninspired.

This movie starts off really well but then quickly looses steam. The voice actors try but they can't overcome a disappointing script. The film does have a good visual look to it. Overall this film is a let down.

Pretty much a CGI update of the 90's film versions which also owes a lot to Tim Burton's style. The animation looked good, but I'm not a fan of the tall and thin character design. The story is pretty cliched one of celebrating difference, but it was serviceable; the jokes were not really that funny, but overall I'd say the film was better than what the trailer led me to believe. I'd say the film did the trick as a Halloween entertainment that is also suitable for small children.

Surprisingly well-wrought and enjoyable re-imagining of these characters lacks the brutal savagery of Sonnenfeld's mini-masterpieces, but taken on its own terms (and its design for a younger audience) this fits the bill nicely, with Theron and Isaac comfortably inhabiting Morticia and Gomez, and Moretz bringing gravitas as Wednesday; Janney is also fun as the prig destined for humiliation! No world-beater but a fun and breezy way to kill an hour and a half.

For someone that grew-up with the old TV-series, this new animated adaptation feels like a watered down version of what made this series so great. Sure, it has it's funny moments, but inserting the usual lame growing-pains theme, which is in nearly every cartoon feature, felt like a safe and uncreative choice to revive this franchise on. Still enjoyable with plenty of gags to laugh at.

Some of the jokes don't land, and the themes are familiar. But all told, I got some laughs out of it, mainly from Wednesday and Fester, and I enjoyed the freedom to play that an animated version of the Addams Family allowed.

I didn't care for this the first time but rewatching it i really liked it. It generally gets the Addams Family "right" and even manages to come up with a bunch of new characters that actually fit. It may not be as good as the 60s TV series or the two Raúl Juliá movies, but it's still entertaining in its own right.
