Sequel to The Last Picture Show reunites most of the original cast for a funnier, more colourful, yet somewhat aimless film that occasionally struggles to justify its own existence. It's nice to see the characters a little further down the line, but newcomer Potts damn near steals the show as Duane's frustrated but loving wife. The comedic touch works to give the impression that these characters are older without necessarily being wiser, but it lacks the emotional pull of T.L.P.S.

Em honra de Cloris Leachman (1926 - 2021). Não é ruim, mas tirando a presença da estupenda Annie Potts, nada aqui realmente me cativou, é apenas uma pálida lembrança de A Última Sessão de Cinema. HDTVRip no MakingOff.

Disappointing -- gone is The Last Picture Show's unforgettable melancholy, instead we have a loose, sometimes goofy and thinly plotted follow-up. Bridges is sturdy as always and Annie Potts walks off with the film.

It definitely doesn't quite match that special something that Last Picture Show had, but it was fun getting to see the most dynamic characters of that movie return for the followup. Bridges nails it out of the park, and Shepherd is great in her own right. Props to Annie Potts for a great showing as Karla, and to McNamara & Leachman for their own roles. The story was pretty flat, though, and ultimately it's much less memorable than its predecessor. It runs a bit long, and ends on an odd note.

Silly soap-opera plot without the style and charm of TLPS.

Fascinating follow-up to PICTURE SHOW reassembling most of the original cast and presenting a tonal flip-side to the events of the original, playing most of the story's incidents this time for light, observational comedy (and in colour!) Bridges and Shepherd are the real stand-outs this time, with Leachman unfortunately neglected; Bottoms' character arc, taken in conjunction with the original, provides the heart and soul, and delivers a knock-out punch by the climax.

As good as a sequel to The Last Picture Show could be.
