Adrift in Tokyo starts off in a fairly unusual fashion then progresses into something that's deliciously intriguing. The premise is that the journey is more meaningful than that of the destination, and in this case I would have to agree. The story is wistful, the characters are colourful, and I find myself amused by the whole tonal direction that it takes.

I was completely entranced watching their long crazy trek. Captivating.

perhaps out of all the films where people walk around Tokyo and talk i've seen, i think this is my favourite one so far

This is a dryly funny, meandering film that is somewhat reminiscent of Jim Jarmusch. It goes down odd subplots, some not even involving these two characters, and has odd recurring gags like the actor Ittoku Kishibe continually popping up as himself.

This is a quirky Japanese film with some nice moments but I didn't entirely 'get it' I think. I didn't see a lot of comedy but I guess its maybe more aimed at an Asian audience?. There's some semi poignant scenes and I liked the quirkiness of the characters and one or two things but it didn't overly impress me as such. There's quite a lot of mundane urban/domestic life depicted. Its a film with a slow plot pace but it has a sort of a welcoming feel to it regardless.
