I'm guessing they didn't want to pay the rights to remake Manchurian Candidate, so instead they give us ten brainwashed assassins, instead of just one, and Charles Bronson in a three-piece leisure suit to maybe distract the viewers into thinking they were seeing something totally new. Footnote: what is Peter Hyams fascination with killing snakes onscreen?
