A huge mixed bag. Some genuinely funny stuff. Some extremely stupid stuff. Some smug, lazy, wholesale ripoffs of "Family Guy" bits. LOTS of dead air. And some thoroughly bizarre moments where Ted's plight is (straight-facedly, it seems) compared to that of Dred Scott. MacFarlane's sloppiest offering to date, but there's so many gags here that some of them are bound to hit. If you're a fan, go for it.

With an overlong running time filled with lacking characters and a thin, predictable plot, Ted 2 has to rely on its comedy to even come close to justifying its existence, and there just aren't enough laughs here. There are some fun moments - it's not a worthless movie - but they'd be too few and far between even if its running time was closer to 90 minutes, not 120. If you liked Ted, chances are you'll like Ted 2, but if you were disappointed by the first one, the sequel won't change your mind.

While certainly not as side splittingly funny as the first iteration, "Ted 2" still has some laughs to offer. The appearance of Sam Jones was gold.

Watching both of them back to back, part of me thinks this is better. Unlike the first, this actually has an arch, reason to exist, and it's actually a pretty good topic. However, it plays on so many tropes from the first, and its kind of annoying. I feel like this would be so much better if it became its own entity, it still has that MacFarlane touch, and if you like it, you'll probably like this. I like this, but I'm still a little dissapointed because it could be better.

I actually laughed more in this than I did in the first movie. It isn't nearly as fresh as the Ted, but it's just as fun and entertaining. If you liked the first movie, you may like this one too. I personally thought all of the references and cameos were great.

Ted 2 is good fun, but it treads familiar ground and the tone of the bottom of the barrel humour is typical Seth MacFarlane. This sequel isn't as consistently funny as its predecessor and it struggles to justify its 2 hour run time. But there are just enough laughs to warrant a viewing. Mark Wahlberg is enjoyable again I suppose and he's effortless alongside the voicework of Seth MacFarlane. Ultimately if you enjoyed Ted, you'll enjoy Ted 2. But if you hated Ted, don't waste your time with this.

Not as good as the first but still has some huge laughs. Comic-Con section dragged with little pay-off, but the rest of it was gleefully offensive and humorous. Liam Neeson is the star there; his segment was fantastic.

About as many laughs as the first, but gets weirdly self-serious in parts (earnest courtroom speeches...really?) and wears out its welcome with a insane two-hour running time. Someday someone will make an absolutely killer 90-minute fan edit.

Not as consistently funny as the first film, and really overstays its welcome with an unnecessary two hour runtime. I only found myself laughing occasionally, partly because the incessant scatological and drug-based humour got tiring for me but also due to inconsistent writing. The story just isn't interesting enough to warrant a feature-length sequel.

While some of the gags are as funny as those in the first movie, it commits two serious mistakes: Being longer and shifting the focus from John to Ted. So it loses the two things that perhaps made the first one work: a breezy pacing and most of Wahlberg's charisma and comedic timing that MacFarlane had supported so well.

Considering just how much this NOT my type of humor (I avoid Hangover, gross-out stuff like plague usually - Big Leb, B & SunD, Serenity, W-Wing, B-Adder, Alan P, Frasier, Dr SL, F&L in V, Dark Star = type I laugh at wit of & enjoy repeat views)......Got 2 admit enjoyed it & laughed far more often than I'd predicted. No way = classic film! but far from painful watch + AS locking eyes with Andy C fan made my day: Admire beautiful actress 4 mock OWN actual features not just ugly-fying make-up etc

(Viewed in 12/15): Sequels to comedies that were surprise hits rarely work out, so it was inevitable that Ted 2 fell short of expectations. It really isn't that much worse than its predecessor, trading on the same vulgar humour centered around an anthropomorphic teddy bear and his juvenile owner (Wahlberg). The drawback isn't necessarily that it's more of the same but that Ted's legal predicament is played too earnestly, which makes the film more schmaltzy and therefore slightly less funny.

The plot sputters around as an excuse to insert potty humor. At times that makes this movie absolutely hilarious, and at other times you sorta wish it'd speed toward the end. The vulgar teddy bear thing sorta played out it's hand in the first film.

I'd rather listen to a TED talk on a subject I'm totally disinterested in. This overly long comedy had a couple good laughs and cameos but then it falls off the path and goes off the rails. Mainly this movie has an identity disorder. It's a family drama about a bad marriage and trying to pay bills and have children. Then it becomes a courtroom drama about person-hood... yeah a civil rights case. Then a romance film... what it's sadly missing is COMEDY...

Whereas the first TED was actually a pleasant surprise, the sequel squanders an intriguing premise rich with satirical potential (Ted is forced to prove his personhood in order to marry and adopt children) by leaning hard on bits that wouldn't have made the cut of the previous film. TED 2 has too few novel ideas and is too afraid to fully explore the ones it has.

As it is with any film that lacks confidence in its story, where the boxes of Good Writing are not all ticked, we endure a bad guy and kidnapping subplot we never needed and celebrity cameos that add nothing other than a brief distraction. Mark Walhbergs character is reduced to a brainless simpleton sidekick. This film isn't as bad as A Million Ways To Die In The West (few could be), but once again Seth McFarlane proves that his shtick does not translate into the world outside of animation.

A truly turgid sequel, Ted 2 sees the main character returning with more profane (& rarely funny) pop culture references, a supremely uninspired side romance, and an appalling premise. The US court system, you see, no longer considers Ted a person, thanks largely to his drinking and unemployment. In the end, only Mark Wahlburg's affection redeems Ted in their eyes. Shallow, tone-deaf, and - worst of all - not funny, this movie reads like a plea to stop giving Seth Macfarlane money. Heed it.

I wasn't very disappointed with this movie, but I think that's just because my expectations were fairly low. I do find the characters likable, and it really wasn't that bad of a film, but we've just been inundated with MacFarlane's style for so long now, that it no longer amuses me like it once did. There were a few good jokes, but nothing too out of the ordinary. I think the character of Ted still looks great. Still, it's too long, and not different enough from the first one, either

I may be banned from Criticker on sight for saying this, but, god help me, I laughed. A number of times. I even went so juvenile as to laugh at Mark Wahlberg getting covered in donor cum. Hell, I'm still giggling now at the Liam Neeson Trix scene. It's samey in many other ways, and I honestly could have really lived happily without another Giovannia Ribisi chase finale, but this is a step up from A Million Ways to Die in the West.

It's got some laughs. It's fine. The actual Ted getting person-hood plot is pretty inventive but the rest is predictable fluff or repetitive themes from the first. I never need to see it again but it wasn't a waste of time.

I can remember remarking that I didn't dislike the first one but never wanted to see it again, so I've really no excuse! Tonally it's the same as the first and has MacFarlane's standard successful joke ratio of about one in eight I guess. It's what you'd expect it to be.

It's incredibly dumb, even cruder than the first one, and totally (if consciously) tone-deaf, but hey, the gags in 'Ted 2' hit the mark more often than not, even if the plot and characters aren't much to brag about (especially if you've watched a Seth MacFarlane product before.)

The concept and schtick of a teddy bear that could talk and function like a human was funny the first time around dispute the self indulgent humour from one of my least favorite writers Seth MacFarlane. This time around it was just plain dumb, missing the mark on many jokes that were designed to make social commentary about freedom and rights. It just plain failed, that is the easiest and simplest way to put it.

I watched the "unrated" version, which I think was a mistake because it probably just meant a few more jokes that were cut because they weren't funny enough. This did feel overlong and a lot of jokes didn't work. Enough laughs so that I'm glad I saw it, though.

The attempt at wider commentary about personhood and civil rights is interesting, but falls in this no man's land of being given way too much importance to be considered merely a plot device but not nearly enough development to be meaningful. It distracts from the comedy with only middling payoff. Aside from that and the copious amount of pot references, it's pretty funny even if its approach is scattershot and full off misses.

Ted 2 doubles down on cameos...and that's pretty much it. The funniest moments were in the trailer, or lifted from another movie. The jokes and the plot felt recycled, and the flick just felt phoned-in. Seyfried was a decent addition, but even she doesn't rise above the mediocrity, wasted opportunity, and tedium that is Ted 2.

As many laughs produced as the first.I don't much remember what happened in the original, and I expect the same in a few weeks after having watched this. I think Wahlberg loves doing slapstick with the Boston accent. He is always good in comedies. MacFarlane is always straddling the line between funny and annoying, gosh bless him.

a slight improvement on the first - more of a likability factor which may be down to its light-hearted but ridiculous plot. MacFarlane and Wahlberg are a great team but whether Wahlberg actually wants to be there is sometimes questionable. Seyfried does a solid job and Kunis is missed. Ted 2 is definitely not short on laughs but is full of unneeded and irrelevant moments. Did the thunder buddies need to return? Well they did and I'm glad. MacFarlane's best work to date (take that as you will).

A film filled with the crude humor that is also present in series such as family guy. Predictable plot, not so great acting, and not so great characters. The main stuffing of the film for me were the sketches. Some of these were really funny, and also included satire, while some of the sketches were really not funny and bad. A well rounded experience which one can expect when watching a franchised movie. I think this will be a one time watch for me.

Ted 2 is a two-hour exercise in frustration, because you can see that behind all the foulness, MacFarlane can actually be disarmingly funny. (A cameo by Liam Neeson, wherein he asks Ted whether he's allowed to buy a box of Trix cereal, given that it's for kids and all, is a hoot.) Suffice it to say that unlike a Damon Wayans Haunted House movie, there's more to MacFarlane's shtick than just schlock. (pluggedin.com)

Ted 2 is dragged down via the distracting and stale amount of Seth MacFarlane tropes. A mantled loser & his supernatural best friend get into hijinks. Star Trek references galore (including performances from 5 actors & plot points from 3 famous episodes). Weird racial obsessions. Easy pop culture references. And it is scored with jazz vocals & famous film cues. The moral is lazy & the film drags while being unfunny. The Liam Neeson cameo is inspired, but that's not enough for a recommendation.

Remember folks, there are two very distinct Seth MacFarlane's. There's the GOOD Seth MacFarlane that we see in the first "Ted", and then there's the Seth MacFarlane whose comedy overstays its welcome. "Ted 2" (quite literally) tapdances that line, but I still consider it to be a solid comedy worth seeing. There were enough laughs to keep it going for me, though one portion does drag the momentum just a bit. All told, if you dug the first one, you're likely to dig this one as well. Moar Seyfried.

Better than "Ted", with some of the best humor I've seen in a long time. And I think the courtroom scenes work as a semi-serious interlude with Ted as a proxy for an eventual future issue, AI. You can't laugh for 2 hours anyway. But the last 15 minutes just looses focus completely.
