Tarzan and the Huntress

Certainly ranking among the cream of all the classic Tarzan films.

There's enough action to give it a pass, but it's clear that Johnny Weissmuller's rendition of Tarzan is nearing its end. The plots are feeling less inspired and the Olympic swimmer is well passed his physical prime as the king of the jungle. But I have a soft spot for these Tarzan movies, so I'll still appreciate them.

One can only expect that by the tenth Weissmuller Tarzan movie, it's beginning to get a bit tired, likewise Weissmuller is about twenty years past his prime. This essentially culminates in being one of the earlier instances of Hollywood attempting to wring every last cent out of a series possible, and this one has been wrung a bit too much.

More furry animals around the world stuffed into African jungle. And more white aboriginals painted in black. Hollywood Africa was way different than Africa used to be. And stagy.
