Tarzan Finds a Son!

Not named Korak but Boy, another good Tarzan movie.

I'm not sure why anyone thought throwing a kid into this dynamic would be a good idea but I guess Burroughs did the same. Presumably young boys loved seeing "themselves" on screen, but watching him giggle as he gets himself into life-threatening scenarios is not compelling to me. Fortunately I did find the ethical dilemma of what Jane & Tarzan will do once Boy's extended family comes to look for him to be plenty compelling. They eventually cheat on the answer by getting rid of the nice old guy.

Recycled Tarzan ideas transfered to a white child discovered in the African jungle. Shows Johnny Weissmuller's Tarzan developing parental maturity, and Maureen O'Sullivan is a natural housewife.... even in the jungle. So a sweet addition. Of course it's the adventures that drives a Tarzan movie and here they put the kid in dangerous situations while the father slaughters animals in front of him. Because they had to be extra careful with the child, the editing is more clumsy then usual.

Throwing a kid into the mix wasn't a good idea, not that Tarzan has a mind any more developed anyway.
