Take a Giant Step

As a play adaptation, it's mainly filmed in one living room set. Still, that visual look reminds you that were it not for racism this could've been a great 1950's tv show drama. It ambitiously touches on teen movie plot points (school, parental conflicts, sex), but shows how racism impacts them--like the confrontation with a bigoted teacher. The performances are great, especially a young Ruby Dee & Estelle Hemsley (who should've won an Oscar). And kudos to Burt Lancaster for producing this.
