From the writers of "That '70s Show" comes this retro dramatic comedy set a decade later, in the financial boom of the late 1980s, about a recent college grad trying to figure out what to do with his life. Amid the goings-on at a raucous Labor Day party, brilliant but underemployed Matt Franklin (Topher Grace) learns a slew of lessons about life and love

The 80s wasn't so long ago, yet no one involved in the film seems to have any memory of it (with no mustaches or cigarettes to be seen). Nonetheless all of the cliche soundtrack choices are there, lending more to the myth that there were only about a dozen popular songs in the entire decade; encompassing the limits of the films effort to pay homage to a bygone era. The rest of the film is forgettable and painfully unfunny with the half-assed setting playing zero role in the film.

Where the writers of "Hot Tub Time Machine" succeeded in intergrating the 80s into their film, this movie failed. They just made it the 80s to dress them up in weird clothes, give the women wild hairdos, and to have an all 80s soundtrack to hopefully hide the completely by the numbers plot that takes no great risks in either telling the story or getting laughs. Pratt was a solid addition and could have done with more screentime.

I almost wanna watch it again. Not that it had me laughing a whole lot, I just really enjoyed it. Goes over the top in some areas but for me at least it's pretty easy to relate to. Happy-go-lucky story, likable protagonist and 80s, yeah worked for me.

Has its heart in the right place and is clearly an homage to better movies before it, but nothing resonates.

Oh my days. Usually i love cringe and giggle in the cringe and awkwardness. I couldn’t even watch the screen when the pain began. It was unmatched and unrivalled, Truly amazing. Film was overall trash and realistic with some unrealism but the awkwardness of get togethers and the idea of seeing old classmates makes this film great. This film is what would happen, it’d be painful and a joke. The nice outcome is he got with a super hot kristen stewart lookalike so theres that

The one thing this movie had going for me was Topher Grace's character. His big mistake in this movie is something I've done myself so I connect a bit with it. Outside of that, everything else was kind of average. It was entertaining, mostly due to Grace, but it really isn't all that funny and it's "by the books" in every aspect. It's pretty simple and I guess it works for what it's aiming for, just wish it could go for something higher.

If there's one actor that I consistently can't stand, it's Dan Fogler. He's always at a 10 on the obnoxious scale. Still, Take Me Home Tonight isn't as unbearable as he is.

Had very low expectations, another throwback 80's movie. God, was I pleasantly surprised. This was such fun. Guess if you didn't grow up in the 80's it's less appealing. Haven't enjoyed such a movie in a long time. Gonna re watch it for sure. Much better than that fake hot tub crap.

This is the type of movie that I would have loved when I was 13, being raised by my dad's nostalgia for the era and feeling superior for hating 1D and every other popular music from the time. It has definently enjoyable moments, I even laughed out loud. But im older and wiser and this movie is not good. It tries to have it's cake and it, wanting to be a a silly funny parody while dealing with some more serious themes, failing because of poor writing, as always.

Take Me Home Tonight is bizarre comedy in which college graduates act as if they were high-schoolers. The plot isn't great, though the antics are reasonably entertaining. The 80's aesthetic is a tad overdone with the outfits and soundtrack. The cast is what I enjoyed most, even if they looked too old for their roles. Mediocre, but still somewhat enjoyable.

Had a lot of fun with this in the first half, but it fell victim to its own clichés in the second. Still, elevated by Dowse's chops in the cutting room.

As far as fake 80's teen comedies go, it's not the best (Adventureland), but it's a bit of an underdog, so there's that going for it. Soundtrack is fun, as is par for the course. But what sets this movie apart? Cocaine, and SUNCOAST VIDEO. Demetri Martin and Dan Fogler provided like 95% of what was funny. It was formulaic, albeit charming, and by the end, I was about as invested in the characters as I should be. Nice ending and final shot.

This movie tries to hard. The script makes it seem like it is trying to be a classic but it fails. The actors try their best with the material but the weak script makes this a bad film.

so standard and typical that even in romcoms sea of sameness im amazed this got made. 80s setting is a gimmick which must have been added to put lipstick on a pig and this is a totally transparent tactic. There are no characters only archetypes. No one behaves like a human. All that said i must admit that i did laugh heartily at several jokes and i give it a higher rating than 20 bc of that

Honestly Take Me Home Tonight is a great watch for Topher Grace in a good role, but really not much else. Anna Faris was probably miscast and the 80's setting wasn't good for much other than music and filling in some plot holes. Definitely less than average, as there is a lot of bad stuff here, but I expected worse.

Surprisingly successful and good-natured film is a throw-back to the John Hughes school of comedy that was popular in the 80s; veers into more contemporary gross-out humour stylings a few too many times, but remains a delight thanks to likable performances (and an amusing Jack Black impression by Fogler). 80s pop soundtrack is especially invigorating, even if the choices feel a little familiar and derivative of other 80s "period" movies.

A sorry excuse to plug some awesome 80's music, I don't see why you even need an excuse to blare 80's new wave. Everyone here is pretty dull, except Grace. Suffice it to say, nobody struck comedic gold with this one.

LOVED it!! It's been quite a while since I laughed so hard watching a comedy! Everything about this movie was great. The story, the actors, the music. The fact that it was set place in the 80s made it even better! Thumbs up!

It's funny the first time you watch it but it's completely disposable. There are practically no memorable scenes to speak of, or at least any that I can remember. Did Teresa Palmer get naked? I can't remember so I suppose not.

A harmless mildly enjoyable 80's look at a group of twentysomethings trying to figure out their lives. It's actually well directed but this film just does not have anything particularly insightful or substantial to say.

Paint by numbers romantic comedy. Except this time, get this, it takes pace 30 years ago. An original move for Topher Grace. Anna Faris was out of place, and Teresa Palmer got annoying by the end. There were some funny scenes though, so it is on the higher side of mediocre. It's crazy how predictable this movie was though. They took no chances, just stuck to the basic formula.

Can't believe how unpopular this film is. It is a very well-shot, well-written and well-cast throwback to 80s American coming-of-age movies. Consistently funny and engaging. Knows where the line is when it comes to cliches and only crosses it once or twice.

Clearly no point for this to be set in the 1980's other than to throw some cocaine jokes and add a familiar fun soundtrack in. Still Grace has excellent comedic timing, and it's fun enough to give it a watch.

Seen it all before but still an enjoyable and funny film. It's supposedly set in the 80's yet it's really not that important to the story and if you are just casually watching you probably wouldn't even notice or care. Don't understand how Dan Fogler keeps getting to do movies, just a terrible and unlikable actor. Gotta love Chris Pratt, hope he shows up in more stuff.
