Sword of Vengeance

Strikingly photographed and designed action movie is a pretty turgid mess; not helped by ugly and graphic blood-letting and even some sexual violence thrown in for good measure, A cast of mostly unknowns is set adrift, with no one managing to make much of an impact.

This is a dark flick both on the screen and in material. If you enjoy dirt, grime and blood set in yesteryear you owe it to yourself to watch this hidden little flick.

I didn't hate it, but it's clear the whole thing was very economic in how much it wanted to tell, which is why most of it is shot in slow motion. I liked the visual aspect of Sword of Vengeance (2015). At least that part gave it an identity, even if most of that was stolen from 300. In the end there was no real reason for this being made, but that can be said about most films.
