The "Dagger Debs" are a gang of snarling girls, and Maggie is their newest member. Lace, the ever tooth-gritting leader, befriends her but soon has doubts --it seems Lace's man, Dominic, head of the "Silver Daggers" fancies the new recruit. Lace struggles to keep control of the Debs, and a handle on Nick, as they face off against the rival gang of pushers lead by Crabs. (imdb)

Switchblade Sisters succeeds where other exploitation flicks fail in that it contains surprising decent performances (for an exploitation film) and a hilariously fun mixture of genres. You have gangsploitation, sexploitation, and blaxploitation that all work together to tell a very enjoyable, albeit silly, story. You don't have to be Tarantino to see the merit of this film.

Oh my. What's this genre, chixploitation? Absurd, inept, hilarious, and entertaining out the wazoo. Roller rink shootout! Lesbian juvie hall guards! Knife fights! Chick with an eyepatch! Anarchists quoting Mao! Teenage prostitution! I'd almost feel guilty for watching this, if it wasn't so deliberately and deliciously wrong.

Passes the Bechdel test, but that doesn't really say anything in this case.

To think of it, this must be first non-Japanese 'bad girls' movie I watched. And what a pleasant surprise! It has everything you could ask for - violence, some tits, politics, - all in the good humour.

It's a nonstop blast of 70's kitsch, sleaze, gunshots, knife scraps and hot girls acting tough and spewing one liners. A delightfully trashy classic.

The movie has some of the worst acting ever and is unskillfully written and directed on a level that can't even be terribly easy to achieve. Even most lesser filmmakers know where to put a camera, how to write a script, how to cast and how to move things along. Switchblade Sisters is a languid succession of scenes in which hollow, hammy actors are arranged in clumsily contrived shots to oversell laughably lame lines. The only real reason for seeing this would be to play peanut gallery.

Not a huge fan of the genre, their combination of violence and cheeseball humor often don't mix. This is one of the better examples, but surprisingly it is very tame for the most part.

Conflicting feelings. It's misogynistic and a bit repulsive in that regard. But knife fights!

Takes a while to get into it's stride. I don't know what was up with 70's audio recording but the dubbing is generally awful & the sound mix has a bizarre selection and repetition of fx, I guess it's a cash constraint. Aside from that, some high value devices bouncing around here, greaser pimps, eye patched sorority breakaway fem-gang, black panther Mao sisters & sets that tear in half. Camp, with room to be camper, could have used a talented director to raise the shot count and heighten style.

Films that r so bad they're good constantly tiptoe on the edge of a very ambiguous line between hysterical & tiresome. The line's blurry enough that it varies depending on who's doing the watching & this 1 repeatedly fell on the wrong side 4 me. Still, the script might b the most complex (Shakespearean undertones throughout: seriously) & plot-driven I've ever seen in an exploitation film; & even if u don't laugh: if u can manage 2 get through the 1st 80 minutes, the last 20 will have u hooked
