It's quite insane to see what they did with animals back in 1960, no way that would fly today. Aside from that, the movie is entertaining and heartwarming. The transition from shipwrecked to mansion-in-the-trees is a bit hard to believe but just run with it.

Not as great as I remembered it as a child. I think it would have been a better movie if the youngest child had been eaten by the tiger when they first arrived on the island. Still has some fun parts, and the treehouse is just as spectacular as it was then. But man, you can tell this was made before filmmakers were concerned with animal safety.

A film I loved as a kid. Still looks quite good for it's age, but it has to be said many of the performances are pretty rubbish and some of the characters are quite annoying. Even so the production values are good, and it's a great kids movie.

Loved it as a kid. Who wouldn't want to live in that treehouse.

I was far more interested in a survival story and establishing the camp so the film peaked early on. Instead I got Home Alone on an island for the rest of the movie with whiny kids. Impressive animal budget. I wish they spent more time showing the treehouses being developed in a more realistic timeframe. Fav scene: showing off the amenities of the treehouses and enjoying the waterslides.

It's a fun film but has some bad acting and it's way too long for its own good.

It's like a contest to see which of these characters is more annoying. Willful disregard for the animals in the film and a stupid plot more intent on silly set pieces than a smooth flowing story don't help.

Very funny movie, I have never seen a baby elephant,
tiger, ostrich, donkey and zebra on a lonely island.

This is a great film! It's a wonderful, delightful story with everything from pirates, to tigers, action, adventure, romance, elephants and a tree house! But, there's many wonderful lines and a great scene between the parents where you can see how much of a "unit" the two are and how they help each other. It's a great family film, and it shows how great family can be. I love it, it's a classic and a favorite of mine, and it stands the test of time!:D

I loved this movie as a kid, but it just doesn't stand the test of time. The youngest kid is a brat that seems to get them into more trouble than he's worth. They should have just left him on the shipwrecked boat. And at the end, do the pirates actually die? They get thrown off the cliffs, shot, rolled over with gigantic logs, but they seem to get up and brush themselves off right after.

Twas OK. Kinda hard to get past the hokey props of 1960 and the poor acting, but If it were still 1960 I think it would have been super awesome. It's never quite clear what the pirates are after and evidently their kidnap victim got away somewhere along the line. The animals in this are the best part.

I watched this countless times with my three siblings (we taped it off TV sometime in the late 1980s) when we were young and so I have fond memories. It's a lot of fun, a proper family adventure film with pirates, guns, swords, explosions, tigers, snakes etc.

I enjoyed this as a child. Surprised this hasn't been given a modern remake, yet. Course, Disney's track record on remakes has been terrible, so maybe we've all been spared.

This movie brings back a lot of memories, I used to watch it all the time as a kid. It's still enjoyable, and I still love the idea of coconut bombs.

A bit theatrical and eccentric and certainly aged , although the story itself is an intriguing one.

A nice slice of nostalgia from a time when Disney would crank out these nice little movies.

Rather cheesy but a good family film with an epic story line and entertaining PG battle sequences. I enjoyed it thoroughly as a boy, and still do to this day. Fine work.

A good adventure film for the whole family. Quite enjoyable, even if it's very flawed in many ways. A nostalgia-filled affair.

Ehh...I loved this as a kid, but it doesn't have the same charm anymore. A lot of the acting really is pretty poor, and with the exception of the father and the oldest son, everybody is annoying. The story is nice, though; I like golden-age adventure movies. And in a way, it was a precursor to The Bridge on the River Kwai becoming one of my favorites.
